Nice little spot

This little spot has 911 Monument, great view of Sandy Hook, and a cute playground for kids. Very nicely maintained with portapotty.

At 266 feet above sea level, the Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook in Atlantic Highlands sits on the highest natural elevation Between Maine and Florida. From here you get a great view of the New York City skyline, and Sandy Hook. It is also the location of the Monmouth County 9-11 Memorial. On a clear day, the views of Manhattan are... More

Scenic Overlook is the perfect way to describe this spot. Awesome views of Manhattan and Sandy Hook.... plus on a clear day parts of Brooklyn and Staten Island. There are "tower viewers" for 25 cents for closer views. It's a small park with a good amount of parking, a playground for kids and some plaques explaining the history of the... More

While it is not a destination, it is surely a stop when in the area. Located right off of highway Route 36 an about a mile from Historic Twin Lighthouse, Mount Mitchell affords fantastic views of the bay, Atlantic Ocean, Manhattan, Freedom Tower, Verrazano Bridge, Statin Island and Brooklyn. Bring your binoculars or use the coin operated viewing machines. The... More

I believe the author F. Cooper wrote about the Highlands in the water witch and deer slayer books. This was a fine example of high lands. One of the highest points next to the ocean on the east coast. You should stop at quick check for a slurpy for the kids than drive up and enjoy the views. It's FREE!!

This is one of the most moving 911 sites I have seen. I am also a relative of a member of my family whom we lost on September 11,2001.The historic area is so nice,it is also the Highest Point on the Eastern Seaboard! Wonderful views of Sandy Hook Island, beaches, and of the skyline of NYC!!! A Must Go To!!!

This park has some amazing views. Very well maintained and cared for grounds. The kids playground is tucked behind a flower garden and keeps the scenic area separate. When you leave the park you can drive through some winding roads and see some amazing houses. This is a fine place to visit.
