During my trip in Galapagos we have a time at Urbina Bay.
This was funny because was like a short walk and free time on the beach.
my firs impresion was that peace surrounds because is really far away from anything but not from the nature.
This day we have the luck to shar the beach with a lot of pelicans and also we snorkel there to see a couple of sea turtles.
One of the best moments we share was when a baby sea lion arrives to the beach. In my group of expeditioners, there were 3 little gils that were playing bulding sand castles and swimming on the sea.
This baby sea lion start to interact with this kids and start to play with them ( Just for the record, In galapagos there is a law that you are not allowed to touch the animals).
The baby sealion start to splash to the girls and the girls to the sealion. The people ask for this behavior to the naturalist that were with us and told us that is OK because the baby feel the gils as other animals to play and not as a threat. And also the Mother sealion feel that way so let the baby plays.
After that the sealion dive away happy for the game and for discover this new and friendly girls. And the little girls learned the best lesson of all: humans are just other mammal that is there just to interact, watch, learn, and preserve them. Humans don´t have to be be a threat to any animal.
The Naturalist told us that this is the reason becuase the strange behavior of Galapagos animals.
Galapagos animals are not afraid of humans , even the newborns, because they see us like other animal that lives there and that we don´t represent a risk for them or their babies.
As an advice get sandals becuase the beack is rocky.

Here we saw Penguins on land and in water, with dive bombing blue-footed boobies and Pelicans but the main attraction was the land iguanas. We didn't do the extended route, but still saw enough to entertain us including Giant Tortoises. A great spot, tranquil environment where the wildlife aren't disturbed by our presence.

This area is not especially pretty but there is wildlife to be seen, most notably you may be lucky-enough to see wild tortoises

Another of the wonderful stops on our tour of the Galapagos Islands. It was great to be able to see wildlife so close.

This was one of my favorite stops on the Galapagos Cruise. We saw lava rock beaches, yellow land iguanas, raised coral reefs that were pushed up out of the water by tectonic forces and we even saw several Galapagos tortoises in the wild!

We were lucky to see many iguanas and tortoioses on our walk over what was at one time the ocean floor. It is incredible what grew in a little over sixty years. The wet landing was easy arriving but the water was choppy returning to the ship.

Another day, another stop on our Celebrity Xpedition cruise. Urbina Bay offered a hiking trip to see a good variety of the islands' wildlife. Here we saw yellow land iguanas, flightless cormorants, and more.

Urbina Bay can be dead calm or it can be a nightmare all depending on the waves. You land on the beach just below a sea turtle nesting area. Your guide will then take you through "The land of giant iguanas". The day we were there the iguanas were everywhere. Mostly males who have yellow accents. The females tend to be brown. The couldn't care less about you. They'll try to stare you down, allowing for great close-up photos.
Lots of birds and flowers. Be careful of the poisonous apple trees. We were too late to see any of the tortoises, even though the day was overcast. They warm up quickly and then head into the brush for cover.
Warning - there are paper wasps on the island. If you are allergic please take precautions.
While our initial landing went well, our exit was under much more strenuous conditions.
Lots of birds and flowers. Be careful of the poisonous apple trees. We were too late to see any of the tortoises, even though the day was overcast. They warm up quickly and then head into the brush for cover.

We took a walking tour on the island. We saw some yellow land iguanas, which were pretty large. We saw the flightless cormorant. That was pretty impressive, as I had never heard of that bird! We saw sea lions on our boat ride over, many plants, birds and a couple of reptiles. Some of us swam with the sea turtles. I got in the water, froze and got out within minutes. But traveling along the shore later from the boat, I was able to see the sea turtles.
