We visited this breeding center for turtles and it was quite interesting. They breed young turtles until they are big enough to be released in the park. The tour visit is about one hour. Interesting.

Nice to see another (aside from the Charles Darwin Research Center in Puerto Ayora) tortoise reserve dedicated to breeding them and releasing them when they're big enough! Nice habitats. Free admission and guide. Worth tipping the very knowledgeable and passionate guide!

We hired a driver to take us here. I would suggest going as early as possible as there was a large group from a cruise ship when we went. The guides move you along at a steady pace so you don’t get too many people...More

Really enjoyed visiting la Galapaguera. There is no admission costs but they do recommend visitors to give a small donation to contribute to the upkeep and conservation of the place. Our tour guide was amazing & gave us a lot of info.

It's great to see all the effort behind maintaining this impressive species. How in this place they are studying them and taking care of the little turtles until they are good to go into nature.

Nice conservation center where you can see the San Cristobal tortoise up close. We were able to see numerous tortoises during our visit. We also were able to learn more about tortoise conservation and their breeding program. You can see very young tortoises as well....More

We visited other reserves (Santa Cruz, Otoy Farm) and the grounds seemed to in much better condition. That being said, you can see huge tortoises here - bring your binoculars and you find them hiding near the small watering holes. If you are going to...More

We visited this Galapagos tortoise breeding center the day before we embarked on a yacht cruise of the Islands. Glad we visited, as it was a good introduction to the tortoises and how they have adapted to the environment. It was very interesting to see...More

Fabulous facility, doing an awesome job of increasing the tortoise population. Just a massive shame that it isn't a few km further up the hill where the grass is greener and generally more pleasant. If this is your only opportunity to see giant tortoises, it...More

I spent 3 days on San Cristobal and never saw or heard of a bus. It's all taxis. What you want to do is hail a taxi in town and for $30-40 the taxi will take you anywhere you want to go for 3-4 hours. That's enough to do the... More
