Visited this site as part of the Highland tour organised by taxi. It is a short hike up to the summit and if taking time to admire the splendid views, the walk around the crater takes around an hour. Blessed with good weather on the day so the views were excellent.

We did the highland tour for $60. We stopped also at this place, which was actually the reason why we did the tour. A little walk with stairs up to the top of the hill. Very nice view over there. Birds where washing theirselves in the lake. We walked the path around the lake. You can see the sea also.

We were here because we took a highland tour, costs 60 dollar, duration 5 hours. Its a nice lagoon with great views over the Island, you can make a nice stroll over the edge of the lagoon and it took us about 45 minutes in total.

In Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal island, most of the taxis will take you on a half-day excursion that goes to El Junco lagoon where you hike to a verdent crater lake with nice views, then takes you to the San Cristobal Galapaguera where you can see tortoises roaming around and the breeding center where they have the tiny... This is a first stop of a $60 4-hour private "Highland tour" via taxi (pick up truck with extended cab). Nice to see different vegetation at different altitude, saw 3 windmills in the distance. Did not see any frigate birds but a nice short hike to see this fresh water crater lake.

El Junco requires a steep uphill climb of about 15 minutes to reach. The trail is rocky but good. It's higher in elevation so it's nice and cool. The lake is misty and lovely, with frigate birds bathing or flying around. No swimming allowed, but a nice view! You can take a hike around the rim too. I recommend it... More

Well worth the trek up the path to view the crater and the view over the Island. The Frigate birds coming in for a wash and a drink was nice to see.

Hiked up soo many stairs in hot sun to see a crater filled with water. If your into geology this might be worth the hike but for me hauling two small kids to the top this was not fascinating by any means. Bring water and lots of sun screen. Saw the birds diving in the water but that was the... More

Interesting to observe the frigatebirds drinking fresh water in the lagoon (crater lake). This is a 10 minute walk to get there.
