We cannot thank you enough for all your advice and organisation for what was truly a trip of a lifetime to the Ecuadorian cloud forest, Galapagos and Machu Picchu. There were so many highlights over nearly one month away and all your arrangements were excellent. We will certainly recommend you and your company to our friends if they are considering a trip to Galapagos or Peru.”

I defy anyone to organise a more comprehensive and better thought-out trip to Ecuador and Galapagos than Rachel has done for us. We, like many of the other recent reviewers here, initially planned to do this trip a couple of years ago but were thwarted by Covid. I'm so glad that we were able to defer our booking until this month, when we felt ready and safe enough to try again. Rachel and her team have guided and supported us throughout, and made a complex process easy and completely painless.

Our prime objective was a Galapagos cruise (Eastern itinerary), but at Rachel's suggestion we opted for an initial few days in Quito and El Monte in the cloud forest. This not only gave us time to get over the initial jet-lag before hitting Galapagos, but also provided contrasting experiences of urban Ecuador and the phenomenally biodiverse ecology of the cloud forest - a naturalist's dream. Throughout we have been provided with personal local expert guides (Elwin in Quito, Tom at El Monte, and Franklin in Galapagos) who really enhanced and enriched our experience with their comprehensive knowledge and insights.

El Monte is an object lesson in sustainable eco-tourism, driven by the passion and belief of owners Tom and Mariela, and is a credit to them. It is a paradise for botanists and bird watchers alike, with an inexhaustible supply new species to discover daily. (Note that typical UK pack-away waterproof jackets just don't cut it here - something more capable is required. You don't get such lush and varied plant life without substantial rainfall, which tends to be in the afternoons.) So many lifetime bird firsts here that I lost count on day one!

Galapagos entry formalities are quite complex, but fortunately Elwin our Quito guide, was there to help us through it all at Quito airport. On arrival in Galapagos we were met by Franklin, our guide from the Cachalote Explorer which would be our home for the next week. What Cachalote may lack in sleek modernity, it more than makes up for in capability, stability and the friendliness and efficiency of her crew. Special mention has to go to the chef on Cachalote - how he managed to produce such excellent, prompt and varied meals three times a day from such a tiny galley I will never know.

If you are going to Galapagos you will know what you want to see. Having Franklin as our guide, no-one was disappointed. Every essential box was ticked and many more besides. His knowledge of the plants, animals, geology and history of the islands was phenomenal, down to exactly where and when to find a particular species of interest - e.g. hammerhead sharks at a particular reef before breakfast, or short-eared owls in a particular crevice on Genovesa.

This trip has been a life long ambition. The complexity of trying to achieve this on our own was insurmountable, but Rachel and Think Galapagos gave it to us on a large and well-piled plate.

Rachel from Think Galapagos has been amazing - ever since our original trip in March 2020 was cancelled due to Covid, she has rearranged and rebooked and kept us constantly updated. When we finally got to the Galapagos this April, it really was the trip of a lifetime and so worth waiting for.
The boat, The Beluga, was perfect - the crew all worked so hard to give us a great time and our guide was genuinely inspiring. He knew every bird, plant, fish, insect and animal and never tired of answering our endless questions. His passion for the islands was clear and we learned such a lot about the islands themselves, the wildlife and the plants.
We saw all that we could have wished for including dolphins, seals and albatrosses. We snorkelled with sea lions, turtles and penguins and also saw the giant tortoises, iguanas, frigate birds, blue-footed and red-footed boobies, finches, flamingos and so much more. It was completely incredible and we will never forget it. Thank you so much to Rachel and Think Galapagos for all your hard work.

One of the reasons the Galápagos Islands are so amazing and other-worldly is that they are highly regulated, with lots rules to follow both getting there and being there. Rachel and her team at ThinkGalapagos were amazingly thorough in guiding us through the process, responding to all questions and concerns beforehand quickly and thoroughly, meeting us at the airport in Guayaquil, meeting us at the airport on the Islands…the entire experience was carefree, educational, and exciting. There are lots of travel companies out there, but ThinkGalapagos is exceptional.

Rachel, from Think Galapagos, made the planning so easy. She answered all our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. We were met at the airport and guided through the process step by step. From there it was smooth sailing all the way. The boat crew and guide were terrific. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and kind. He answered all our questions and took good care of those with differing abilities. We learned a great deal about the islands, the animals and the plants. It really is a different world. The birds, sea lions, fish and reptiles seem not to care at all that you are in their world. At one point when we were snorkeling a penguin swam right up to me to check me out! Our guide and crew made us feel very comfortable and safe. I was able to relax and really enjoy all there was to see and do. Totally fabulous all around.

We are so glad we worked with Think Galapagos. They were consistently responsive, attentive to detail, and dedicated to making our trip smooth and happy. They worked within our time frame and preferences, and tinkered with our scheduled as we requested. And they helped us roll with the pandemic, efficiently taking care of deferred plans and negotiating rescheduling at every juncture. Great company.

I have travelled with Think Galapagos many times now because they organise the most amazing trips and will also put together bespoke itineraries which are beautifully thought out. Rachel and the team are superb in ensuring communication is maintained and they have some great ideas to make each trip just perfect. They are keen to develop links with local communities in places on the itinerary, so you will find you can have access to some wonderful experiences with local people if you are interested to do this. Everything they have organised for me, either travelling independently, or on one of their group trips has been superb. Santiago who leads many of the group tours is so knowledgeable and thoughtful. They certainly go the extra mile and I would highly recommend them.

Traveling with Think Galapagos has revolutionized how we view travel. This was our first group travel experience and perhaps the most memorable of any of our vacations. We didn't just "see" Ecuador and the Galapagos; led by the expert guidance of Santiago, we learned about the nature, culture, food, and geography of this delightful country. Every detail was well planned, executed flawlessly, and modified spontaneously around the interests of our group. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We would highly recommend the services of Think Galapagos to travelers who want the best in fun, organized, and personalized travel.

I discovered Rachel at Think Galapagos through a friend of a friend who had recommended her. From the start Rachel has been amazing in every way, from arranging a wonderful bespoke experience full
Of interesting places to stay, providing detailed information on things to do, see and eat, organizing friendly knowledgeable guides, responding to every email within hours etc. unfortunately, my adult son became very Ill on the first day of the trip and so we could not go on the boat tour of The Galapagos as planned. Rachel’s team helped me to get him seen at a hospital and once he was better and could fly home, she rearranged my trip out to the islands with another boat, even finding me a much cheaper rate for the sake experience. She also provided all the paperwork I needed for my insurance in s timely manner. We had numerous calls and emails back and forth, sometimes late into her night and I felt so looked after. It was really like having a supportive family member there and I could not be more grateful. The best service I have ever had from a travel company by far and at a price that was very reasonable for all the stress it took away from me!
