Worth hiring a camionetta for a drive to this beach. A nice boardwalk from the parking area offers many different plants and iguanas to see. At the entrance to the beach there is a ranger station with changing rooms/bathrooms. To the right is a lagoon...More

There is a 10 minute walk from the taxi drop off to the beach. On one side is a small lagoon where we say four or five American Flamingos. We expected to see more but were told that several birds and animals have died due...More

The cost-benefit is just not worth it. It's about $30-40 for a taxi to take you there and back to town. (It's fairly out of the way and there's no public transportation there, so you have to arrange for your taxi to return at a...More

Nice Beach area. Most beaches here are protected. So don't expect restaurants and souvenir shops. Bring your own towels, water, and food. We actually took a boat taxi here. He then picked us up a few hours later.

You have to hire a cab to get to El Garrapatero and it will be the best $40 that you spend (don't pay the cab until they return to pick you up). It's a very interesting drive through banana and coffee farms to get to...More

We stopped here on our last day on the island and saw a few flamingos, ducks and other birds at the nearby lagoon where camping is allowed. The beach is nice and there aren't as many people as at other beaches on the island, but...More
