Great place to go and see the giant tortoises in the wild! We enjoyed walking the grounds, taking photographs of the various turtles and learning about them from the knowledgeable tour guides. Also a restaurant and gift shop on the premises.

A fun, easy and educational activity for the whole family. We had a delicious lunch then spent about 1 hour wandering around taking close up pictures of the many Tortoises. There was a surprising amount of tortoises that were within an easy distance to walk....More

You can get up front and personal (NO TOUCHING!) with the ancient Galapagos Tortoises as this is a sanctuary for them. I love that it is so natural. Guide takes you on short, easy hike of the area as you view the tortoises in their...More

Visiting Galapagos is not complete if one does not see these giant tortugas. Here in El Chato you will see them roaming around its natural habitat. Truly amazing to see them up close and personal.

We read about El Chato on trip advisor and decided to hail a taxi and go. No boots, no guide, just a wandering spirit. Great day with the lava tunnels and then walking the finca looking for turtles! What out for the huge turtle poops...More

This is where you go to get the full turtle experience. Very up close, not very expensive and and right by the lava tunnels and the craters, so you can get 3 big checks off your list in a close location.

To get to the location, which is at the centre of Santa Cruz, we hired a taxi from Puerto Ayoro. We negotiated with the taxi driver for 45 min stay at the reserve and a round trip back to Puerto Ayoro ($35). The tortoises are...More

One of the first places we stopped after arriving at the Galapagos. It was great to see the Giant Tortoises so quickly and closely in their natural habitat. Had a nice lunch their too.

No, hail a taxi for $40 dollars includes going to Lava tunnel. $3 entry to tortoise farm. Try and make sure someone is available to show you around the farm, it's great and you can get very close too.
