I only came here because something went wrong with my plans and I had an extra day on Santa Cruz. It was okay and neat to see tortoises wandering around. It's also better than doing nothing, but if you have something else to do, then go do that something else!

We took a cab ride out to El Chato on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet as we were the only ones there at the time. We were given a little overview of what we were about to see as well as instructions on how close we could get when approaching the tortoises. There were also lava tunnels on the... More

We got a taxi from town which was great since we could stay as long as we felt like. It is nice to walk around and see them out of cages.

When I went to El Chato I expected to see a couple tortoises from far away, but I was completely wrong. There were tortoises everywhere!! You can get up to 2 meters away from them which is awesome. There were many different paths you could walk on. Definitely come to see tortoises.

I could hardly wait to go here though I saw a few ones on the way from the airport. The place is excellent, you can even have a small lunch if you wish. I think most of us came here mostly because of the love for turtles. So it is important that we can walk and sit for time enough... More

Our first introduction to the Galapagos Islands were the giant tortoises - be careful not to trip on them - A great location!

During our visit, there were lots of guava falling from the trees; so, the tortoises were happy gorging on them. Nice to see them walking among the shrubbery and wallowing in mud. Our group also had a tasty buffet meal. The walk through the lava tube is short. If you have never seen one, this one is an easy, well-lighted... More

This is the place for tortoises! We saw a multitude of small songbirds, too. Flycatchers, finches, warblers, beautiful colors!

There are lots of tortoises here all free to walk around in a natural environment with mud holes, trees & plenty of vegetation. The tortoises don't seemed stressed & behave naturally in fact we saw a pair mating felt sorry for the female as the male on top of her was about four times her size. It is amazing see... More
