There are several different ways of spelling Ayun Khodra as the local Bedouin language is based on phonetics rather than the written word. It is a Bedouin homestead where the Mezzeina tribe use the natural spring to grow a variety of produce including dates, apples and grapes. The Mezzeina are typical Bedouin people, extremely hospitable, and make superb tea. I... More

We started the day travelling to the White Canyon from Nuweiba, only about a 40 minute drive, the last bit off road, but not too rough. The descent into the canyon was down a short rope then a ladder, which sounds and looks worse than it is ! we are a family with 2 girls aged 10 and 6 and... More

Getting to the oasis was not an easy trip, since I happen to be very afraid of heights and we had to scale down a small canyon wall. This trip is not for those who are not in decent physical condition. Perhaps try to use the toilet before heading out as well. Our bedouin guide was very sweet and kind,... More

This is an interesting Bedouin oasis, reputedly on the original pilgrims route from Jordan to Mount Sinai and with links to the early history of St Catherine’s Monastery. There is a fascinating water source that must have been in use for thousands of years. The oasis is now a fairly popular destination for camel safari’s and day trips to the... More
