We did the Cairo by plane and Luxor by plane excursions. Both exceptional trips, we were looked after from the very first minute, it was clear where we needed to go and we were with a guide or driver the entire time. Both of our guides were very informative, giving us a great overview of Ancient Egypt.
The Luxor trip is not one to miss - we enjoyed this far more than the Cairo tour, much to our surprise. Feel like there is more to see, going inside temples and tombs.
These tours are very good value for money - includes pick up/ drop off from hotel, 2x internal flights, lunch, private guides, driver in Cairo/ Luxor, and entry tickets to every tourist spot on the programme. We couldn’t quite believe how good value this was.
We met someone and handed over cash for the trip when arriving in Egypt, and were weary of this as were previous reviews. However was completely fine, this is just the way it works in Sharm!
Regarding the reviews saying this is a long day with a lot of waiting around - we did not think this. Our guides did not rush us at all, we had to wait a bit in the airport for the flight home but this could be expected from doing a trip with 2 internal flights in one day. The guides did offer us additional activities to pass the time but we didn’t want to spend any more money so happily waited.

We booked two excursions with Sharm Excursions. Initially things went well - the pick up from the airport was good. We took our first excursion with them to go quad biking in the desert. We joined a larger group of other tourists. There was a couple that was behaving badly and weaving in and out of line cutting up other people. The lead instructor didn't have a clue what to do. We complained but he still had not idea how to control the situation. Eventually my wife was left to confront the badly behaved couple. After some heated words we received a acknowlegement from the lead member of the other family that it was wrong and received an apology. I complained to Sharm Excursion and just received a standard reply about they will look into it. Guess what - they didn't bother getting back to us.
We took the second tour to Ras Mohammed with them (as it was already paid). The pick up driver was late and when he turned up was confused about who he was picking up. After a few minutes this was sorted and we was transported to the dock area to join our boat. Be aware that you have to pay for a life vest if you intend to snorkel (if you want one). We found this ridiculous that the price did not include life vest (as we were doing this trip with 2 kids - 3 and 10 year old) - $3 each !
The tour itself was ok, but the info on the website stated 8am pick up and 16:30 drop off back at the hotel. The boat didn't arrive back at the dock until 18:00, and we didn't get back to our hotel until 18:35 - which made us miss a dinner reservation. The boat captain told us that the boat trip was running on time so this was not unusual. When I asked Sharm Excursion I received no reply. It seems once they have your money the customer service stops.
We eventually decided to book a third excursion through someone else - Egypt Tours. I wish I had used Egypt Tours for all our excursions from day one.

Positive - we had a lovely knowledgeable guide and overall we had a good day however,
Negatives - the deposit was paid by credit card at the time of booking online but it was unnecessarily stressful to find we had to handover cash for the balance of the trip one day after arriving in Egypt. Over £1000 to an unknown person who we had to meet outside our hotel. It felt like a scam and we were thoroughly relieved when the trip turned out ok. We feared getting to the airport and no booking had been made. I suppose having the money in cash avoids them paying tax.
There was so much time hanging around waiting with nothing to do. We had visited the pyramids, the Sphinx, 2 museums and had lunch by 2pm but the flight wasn’t booked until 11.30 pm. We booked a Nile cruise to pass the time. Service was appalling though and we weren’t told the food was downstairs so not all of our group managed to eat.
We left the hotel at 4.30 am and arrived back at 2.30 am the following morning. I presume this was because we were booked on the cheapest flights. The day was far too long for a private tour.

We had a great day trip to Cairo to see some of the main attractions with Sharm excursions. Our favourite bit was visiting the pyramids where we actually got to climb onto the great pyramid! The day finished up with dinner on a boat cruise which included a belly dancer! Highly recommended. Well done to Mohamed and his team for co-ordinating everything!

We went on two amazing trips through Sharm Excursions tour company, Cairo day trip by Bus and Petra day trip by boat. Both me and my partner really enjoyed both days and would highly recommend.
( The Cairo trip we got picked up from our hotel at 00:00 and we returned at 03:00 the following day and the Petra trip we got picked up at 01:30 and got dropped off at 01:00 the following day. This allowed for us to have as much time as possible in our chosen location to sight see and not feel rushed).
The tour guides for both trips were extremely accommodating and really nice people! Their English was perfect and were always willing to help.
In Cairo be aware there is a stop to a Perfume shop which if we were to do this trip again we would avoid due to feeling pressured to buy something. We were the only English speakers on the trip so got taken away from the rest of the group whilst in the shop and was shown all the different perfumes they had to offer. We shown interest in one perfume and asked how much it was. They didn’t give us a straight answer and when we asked if it was €30 they said yes… so we went to pay and it was actually £240 !!! We felt as though we had been scammed and lied to about the price and it was a struggle to get a refund! LUCKILY our tour guide spoke to the owner of the perfume shop and agreed to refund us the full amount ! Please be aware of the perfume shop and that it is very expensive !
Throughout both tours we felt very safe, there were police escorts within a convoy throughout the whole experience. This may seem worrying to some people however it made us feel as though if we got into any trouble we had someone there to protect us.
We had however booked a third day trip to Luxor by air which was sadly cancelled by the airline company the day before we were supposed to go ! We were really upset by this as we were really excited to visit Luxor :( understandably this wasn’t the tour company’s fault and we did recieve a full refund.
We will definitely be coming to Egypt again and will definitely be booking with this company again :) thank you!

Sharm Excursions
Cheaper by £35-50 pp and the deposit could be paid online using a credit card for additional protection. Paid £190 pp to cover
Return flights to Cairo, return hotel transfers to/from Sharm El Sheik Hotel to SSH airport, tour guide /taxi driver around Cairo, lunch, admission fees into Pyramid Park and Museum)
Communication was with Mohamed via Whatsapp - he answered all questions thoroughly before and during the tour
He asked for the balance to be paid the day before the tour - in sterling/ cash only. Of course red flags set off in my mind - I rechecked the credit card charge and the name of the vendor was not SharmExcursions! Some
UK Limited Company in London! I reported to the fraud team and they said SharmExcursions was coming up in the fine print behind the UK company!
I hoped for the best beyond this point and paid over the hard cash to a cab driver demanding a receipt and itinerary. I had the receipt and I was texted the flight booking details (although all the dob and middle names were incorrect on second inspection!)
We were picked up in a mini van at 5am and dropped off to the airport. Cleared the several bag x-rays check points (needless and excessive). Having landed in Cairo (already had the e-visa via the official website) - cleared through but no one to meet us! After making a call to the operator - a woman presented herself as the the guide. We hoped into the taxi and asked to visit the Pyramids first before the overhead sun beat down at high noon.
At this point all the worries and stress of travel were over. Truly breathtaking. We took several photos (did not go inside the Pyramids - cost is £2 pp but you need to bend all the way down and up. The oxygen levels are also low in the chamber. There is a limit of the first 100 or so visitors allowed to go inside each day
We hired camels and a horse/cart. £60 for 15 mins for 4 of us. This was negotiated but felt it was more expensive than it should be. Our guide introduced us and I felt there was some percentage kick back for the guide upon sale. The guide also tried to make us buy headscarfs but at $10 each - there really was no need!
The camel handlers were 2 boys below the age of 14. Initially charging ahead at speed we shouted to slow down as the ground was very bumpy. Again epic photos from the viewpoint.
From there we expected to visit the Sphinx park, but instead, the taxi pulled over on a side road, and a few photos with the Sphinx in the background were taken.
We were then rushed into a nice restaurant where we could order anything on the menu (except drinks) We had a fantastic view of the pyramids and Sphinx from the second floor whilst dining
The food took about an hour to come out which wasted a bit of time
I was adamant to visit Sphinx up close and personal so paid $9 per ticket to enter the park and take further photos with the family
After leaving the historic site we moved on to a shop that demonstrates how to make papyrus. Another of the guides contacts in the hope a sale goes through and a kick back commission - we declined to be pulled in and waste money on overpriced paintings on papyrus
We chose the old museum despite having no air-conditioning, as we were looking forward to seeing Tutankhamen‘s treasures
The guide was edging us towards the new museum, which had full AC we decided against that
The guide, then tried to sell us The Nile cruise tickets - initially quoted $50 per person for a five star cruise. We said too expensive.
She then went down to a three star cruise at $35 for head. Again we said no!
The tour operator then actually showed up, apologised that the Sphinx admission fee was not covered by the £190 per person and offered a five star Nile cruise at £20 per head including a full buffet and entertainment i.e. traditional Egyptian dancing and belly dancing which finished up around 8pm.
Returned to airport by 9pm for a long wait until 11.30 flight back to Sharm
Back at hotel by 1:45 am.
Absolutely tiring gruelling hot (34°) day, but it was worth it as we have now visited one of the seven ancient wonders of the world.
Despite parting with a large amount of cash and red flags going off each time we were taken somewhere to spend even more cash! The overall day, the execution of the tour operator was actually timely and comfortable. The guide was very polite and knowledgeable but constantly on her phone yapping to a friend! She indirectly hinted her previous guest gave big tips. All taxi drivers are not shy to ask for tips either. Given there was chaos all around and persistent sellers at the Pyramid sites and around town. We had a very memorable day
£760 (Pyramid entry, lunch, and museum entry plus 4 return flights) plus Sphinx entry £32.21 plus £60 for the 2 camels and one horse and cart (15 mins) aplus £80 for the Nile Cruise Buffet/ Entertainment (2 hours)

Mary, our tour guide was exceptional. She took such creative and fun photos. She was so knowledgable and the trip ran very smoothly. Lunch was fine, the view though was to die for. See photo. The pyramid experience was great, Mary made sure we weren’t pestered constantly by traders.
We went to the oil factory which was an interesting experience and the papyrus factory, we bought a print but the guy here was very pushy! Even though we spent £80 he was not happy. This was annoying.
The cruise was interesting. Food wasn’t good but we had a small plate of salad and chips and kids had chicken. The show was fun but the major let down was toilets. Ladies had 1 out of order and 1 with no lock and was very unclean.
Got back to hotel at 3am.
Overall excellent trip.

While we were at a resort Sharm El Sheikh, we decided to take a one day excursion to Cairo - private tour by plane. This was a great experience and everything went smoothly. I worked with Mohamed who was always available on WhatApp to help where necessary. We were picked up at our resort at the appointed time, and transported everywhere in Cairo in a comfortable air conditioned people carrier. Our guide spoke excellent English and helped us customize our itinerary. Prior to the trip we had to adjust our party size due to illness which was easily accomadated. There are so many excursion companies to choose from and difficult to know who to rely on, I'm glad we chose Sharm Excursions.

Paid a deposit for the Cairo day trip by Plane via Paypal and the transaction on Paypal shows a payment to Gainsborough Designs Limited? Not sure if I have been scammed here. Any previous travellers have this issue? Also, is it usual to pay (the balance) in cash rather than by credit card ? Even more suspicious despite the many positve reviews? Please advise if you have used their services in 2023

Hello, I booked a trip through their website and paid a deposit through the website. The transaction was listed as being through Gainsborough Designs Limited. I paid the balance in cash (US$ but other currencies would be accepted) to an agent who I met at the resort. All my interactions were through WhatsApp and their response was immediate. I had a wonderful trip. I believe that the cash payment allows them to save money by avoiding bank fees.

Just google Sharm excursions.
I've used them for trips in Sharm and Hurghada, both excellent trips. You pay a small deposit then a rep meets you at your hotel to collect the balance.

Hi there -
I've been trying to contact someone about tours as I see you've got wonderful reviews and tours that I'd love to go on. I've submitted information through the "contact us" page on your website and I've even sent emails on September 8, September 27, and October 3 with no reply. Are you still in business?

We used them for the airport transfer (cheaper than the hotel, and more reliable than a taxi) so we paid once we got picked up and he gave us all the information we needed then before heading off on the other tours.
Others said they got picked up outside their hotel on the day of their excursions and while they were a bit wary at first really had nothing to worry about.
Book online and pay the 10% deposit. Worst case is they don't show up and you just reverse the charges for the deposit.
