We went on the two day tour by jeep to Georgetown with Emel as tour guide and Bara driving. We had the most amazing experience and really recommend this trip to anyone who wants to learn more about the real Gambia and its people. The trip was as described by the tour company except that we weren't able to see a family in a typical grass hut on this occasion, though this was more about our indecision has and leaving it too late to find one, and not the fault of Emel or Bara. We were also very relieved that Arch Tours has now changed the overnight stay location from the African Round Houses (which have had bad reviews) to a much more comfortable guest house by the river, the Kairoh Garden. It had clean sheets, decent mosquito nets on the windows and beds, a ceiling fan and an en suite too, though without hot water. Loo rolls were provided. Mosquito spray definitely needed when eating in the covered 'restaurant' at dusk. Not hotel standard, but reasonable for a guest house so far inland and remote. We were able to sleep. It was very hot inland and the jeep wasn't air-conditioned but this didn't matter too much for us . Bara was an excellent driver at all times, both in the difficult traffic in the towns, and anticipating the hazards of children, carts and lorries inland. He also kept watch over our valuables each time we left the jeep and played the drums while we ate our dinner. Emel was an outstanding tour guide, with excellent English, funny, very able to talk honestly about anything and everything, with a special interest in history. He was able to improvise and make new arrangements when things outside of Arch's control didn't go quite to plan. We felt very safe and very well looked after by both Bara and Emel. The boat trip was also very good and we saw a hippo family, baboons, monkeys and a crocodile, with the boatman taking as much time as we wanted at each location.
We would definitely recommend this trip, and if you can use Emel and Bara, so much the better as they were a great team. Why stay by the pool every day when you can have a big adventure and see Gambian life away from the resorts? It's the sort of trip that will make you wonder and weep in equal measures. Don't miss it!

We arranged to visit Fathala reserve in Senegal through Arch tours. Communication with Mr Conteh was via email and WhatsApp and was very prompt and professional. We were sent a list of everything we would need to take so were well prepared. Due to ill health we had to postpone our initial trip very last minute but this presented no problem for them and we simply rearranged. On the day we were accompanied by Dowda who worked tirelessly to make sure our day was enjoyable. We had a cooler of drinks which kept us refreshed all day and we were provided with a sandwich for breakfast (it was a prompt 06:40 start) and lunch at a restaurant just outside the reserve. This was a long tiring day but we had a wonderful time thanks to Arch Tours experience and organisational skills and Dowda’s excellent guiding skills, good English, local contacts and sense of fun which matched ours perfectly.

We went on two trips - the 4 in 1 (with Lamin) and the Abuko nature reserve (with David) and both were great. The 4 in 1 we got to see different parts of daily life in The Gambia and Lamin was great and very helpful. We would recommend this trip for actually getting to see some of the country. Our second trip was bird watching and to Abuko nature reserve and David was very knowledgeable and we saw lots of birds with him (including a blue breasted kingfisher and violet turaco - neither of which I had heard of before the trip). I would definitely recommend going with Arch tours - they are good value for money too especially given the tours are private. Thank you to Lamin, David and Assan

Further a fantastic experience, my wife and myself are very happy to recommend Arch Tour services. Being in partnership with M. Lamin Conteh (CEO) was a true and valuable relationship: Reactive, Flexible, Connected, Kind and VERY Professional, M. Conteh is a man of trust ! We had great support before, during and after the events.
We had a specific and big challenge: our wedding organization while being french citizens. Thus we needed comprehensive local support to arrange many details.
M. Lamin Conteh and his staff provided many quality services such as: guest transport during the celebration day, tour organisation (ex: boat reservation for "root" excursion and great guides), locations visits for the weeding and booking, calls support, local interfaces with businesses or administrations, various additional topics beyond the base scope that we agreed?

We travelled with Arch Tours, Lamin, and his team, for 11 days out of our 14 day stay in Gambia and they were amazing throughout! Took us into the interior to George town, off the beaten track in Senegal to Tobor (as well as Dakar), arranged some fishing for us, as well as some more local sightseeing trips. Very accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly, and simply could not do enough for us. Would highly recommend as a one stop shop for all your Gambia tours. Thanks guys! And sorry for the delay in posting a review!

Everything was perfectly organized and reasonably priced. We were in Fathala Park in Senegal for a jeep safari and the price of the tour included everything, so you didn't have to worry about anything. In addition, the guide was very knowledgeable and told many interesting stories about the Gambia.

2 weeks ago we went on the 2 day trip to Janjanbureh (also known as McCarthy Island and Georgetown) with M.L. as our guide and Tom as our driver. What a fantastic trip! We have seen so much in such a short time. Everything was well organised by Arch Tours. From the booking untill the drop-off at our hotel. M.L. and Tom took really good care of us. There where plenty cold drinks available during the entire trip (water, cola and fanta). On the first day we visited a local market, did a trip on a donkeycar, visited the stone cirkels and had a nice lunch at a lodge near the river. After lunch we went for a riversafari. We could see the chimpansees very well. The hippos we couldn't see very well. Only saw there heads for a short moment because of too much wind. But at least we have seen them! Back at te lodge we could not stay overnight, because it was fully booked. Instead we went to a lodge/ guesthouse in the centre of Janjanbureh. The accommodation was nice. There was a diner and a breakfast buffet, both very good. The rooms are basic, but sufficient. We had a bed for 2 persons with mosquitonet, good mattress and an ensuite bathroom with shower. After breakfast we went to the slavehouse and paid a visit to a family on a rural compound. It was good to see so many aspects of Gambian life. Not only by the excursions/ visits, but also on the road. On our trip back to the coast we had lunch at Abca's Creek lodge. Very beautiful place, also for just a (good) lunch. Because it was very hot that day, the shade of the trees was welcoming! After lunch we only had to drive for an hour and Tom en M.L. dropped us of at our hotel for that night. This trip is so worth it!! Thank you so much Arch Tours (especially M.L. and Tom) for this great experience.

I met one of their guides in Kuntaur, Gambia, and got the opportunity to join with him and the group he was guiding at the time. We went to Janjanbureh (Georgetown) and learned everything about the island's role during the transatlantic slave trade. The guide was very knowledgeable and charming and has an excellent network of partners all across the country, and the driver was very responsible and respectful. Would definitely recommend!

We did a half day sunrise bird watching tour including breakfast with Dawda as our guide. He was very interesting and knowledgeable and made us feel like friends. The tour consisted of a trip on a boat from lamin lodge and a walk around the local allotments and oyster catching area looking at birds. Dawda did a great job finding lots of different species for us to see. This was followed by a lovely breakfast at the lodge. We then went on to the nature reserve and did a forest tour on foot. Dawda and Assam (our driver) were very keen to help us out and take us to our next accommodation which was quite a long drive away.
Highly recommended
