We booked a 17 night holiday with Noble Caledonia with 12 nights on the river and the others in Kolkata/flight, and Guwati. The brand new Radisson Blu In Guwati had no hot water, the boiler had broken down. There were insufficient staff and unless you...More

This a very big river in assam. It flows through entire assam, through Kaziranga and Guwahati. Definitely worth a cruise on it. The river at times is very broad and full of life.

At the banks of this river one has to walk very precariously to avoid sliding into the deep waters of the river which originates from Angsi Glacier (Himalaya). One of the moments where you stand at the edge of the cliff (formed by erosion of...More

The other side trips we took was a boat ride on the Brahmaputra, which was nice, but not much to see in late March, mid-day. Could have been interesting though with the right guide, as this is a major source of the Kaziranga flood plains...More

Sandbanks are a problem! Its a peaceful scene of bluey-greys, mistiness, sandy banks, some with grass beginning to sprout, others being cultivated. Sometimes one sees gangetic dolphins or buffalo.

We did a 4 day cruise with the Assam and Bengal Navigation Company from Guwahiti. This cruise covered only a short stretch of the river but was really enjoyable. There were 26 crew for max number of 24 passengers, in our case there were only...More

As far as I'm aware, there isn't. I think our cruise boat was the only one operating.
