Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh is a serene escape from the city hustle! My friends and I enjoyed a peaceful evening by the lakeside, taking a boat ride. The picturesque views and the gentle breeze make it a perfect spot for relaxation. Highly recommended for those seeking tranquility in the heart of the city.

    Chandigarh's Gem: A Lakeside Retreat
A scenic view to sit around for hours and relax but not with the kids. There are sitting space, benches where you can sit and long walk sides of lake. Also if you are like boating then there are boats available in evening around 5 i think. While there aren't any restaurants nearby, you'll find hawkers offering snacks and drinks people’s come here for Jogging Running, Jogging and exercising as well in the Evening and Morning. view of lake at night time is mesmerizing. And at the end of Sukhna Lake, there is Garden of Silence features a seated Buddha Excellent place in weekdays, but not on weekends when one may witness a decent rush.

    A pleasant enough walk
A pleasant enough walk along the side of the lake, where there are also some modern-art installations and well maintained gardens, with some nice views. There are also paddle boats and boat cruises round the lake. As nice as it is for a walk, it is not exceptional.

Sukhna Lake is the best visited place where you can enjoy with your families and friends as well. In the lake boats are available for boating. There is a huge area where you can walk and you can enjoy the weather. I have just come here last month that time weather was too good and view of water I can't tell you how amazing it was. I have clicked photos by photographer. Peoples come here from different states to view this scene.

A visit to Sukhna lake is different at different hour of the day. In the morning it is the serious health conscious who throng the lake with some youngsters trying to outpace the others while the elderly move in groups of friends. Later in the day it is the tourists who visit the Lake in their groups or local hosts. The outstation groups of visitors generally go up to the observation tower only which is less than a kilometer from the entrance . Come evening , and there is a spurt of visitors, from joggers to walkers, to the fitness freaks who flex their muscles in the small green patch just inside the entrance. It is interesting to see that as the seriousness of walkers increases, the length of the distance covered increases. From a swarm of people it is only a trickle who reach the regulator end. The beautifully laid garden of silence at the regulator end is a place of sheer bliss. Throughout the length of the approximately 2.5 Km long promenade the parapet is sprinkled with couples or families soaking in the beauty of the hills or the serenity of the water. On weekends you can see a few youngsters trying out their music compositions with curious onlookers. A visit to the lake is complete only when you take a boat ride in a paddle boat or a rower-driven boat. Some years ago a shikara was also added. The beauty of the lake is that in different weathers you have different hues of the water and the sky to relish. Chandigarh residents can never tire of visiting the Lake ever!

We spent a long afternoon by Sukhna lake talking to holiday makers from all corners of India. It is an important place for families to relax together, enjoy taking a boat on the lake, looking at the views and eating at the food court. A great experience.

Visiting crowded places during COVID was not a good idea, therefore, visited Sukhna Lake, spent nearly an hour walking by. Sat alone for breathing exercise. Not too much crowd in any case, thus a good place to relax even during these times.

I visited our in the early morning hours in February 2020 when the temperature is around 6 degree at night to 18 degree in day. I have never seen such a beautiful place. It has got the perfect place for morning walk, cycling and sight seeing. It's a well preserved area with only 1/3 of the perimeter constructed with tar road and scenic view in the morning hours are breath taking. The rest of the 2/3 perimeter is the jungle trail which is a path in the middle of the preserved jungle and you really love it if you can walk the entire area, beware that there is no exit once you enter that path and have to complete the entire 4km of jungle trail if you want to come out and there are no restrooms in that path. Otherwise all facilities of drinking water and restrooms are in the initial 2km stretch of the tar road and cycling path only. So in total it's more than 6km perimeter. Must visit with a good walking shoes and water.

We reached here early in the morning but reaching after 11 is better as more activities open up.
It's a very large lake with many option for boating. By many I mean there are more than 50 boats of different size and shape for everyone liking.
There is a play area for kids and some rides as well.
Food is obviously available so you won't go hungry.
Take a ride on the lake and enjoy the beauty of the place or take a nice romantic walk on the very long and clean waterfront.
All in all the trip will surely not disappoint.

A very nice place to visit and have a walk. There is a boating area where children of all ages and adults can spend some quality time as it is a massive lake. There is a concrete monument called Chandigarh the City of Peace and it fits this place to a T. Very peaceful and an interesting place to people watch as well.
