The white sands are recommended for the good pictures. Especially nice at sunrise / sunset. Maybe too much hot at summer.

I am sure glad that we stopped at white sands. It is just beautiful. The sand (gypsum) feels like it is wet and very cool but it is dry. We walked out on the boardwalk on one of the stops of the drive and the temp was really cool. As soon as we drove out of the sands the temp... More

On the way back from Las Cruces we stopped at White Sands. What a beautiful place. Wish we had time to sled down the dunes. Looked like so much fun. We got out and got some amazing pictures.

This was our first visit to White Sands National Monument for our group of 4. It is a very unique area of our world. We found the video that we viewed prior to our drive through the area to be very informative in our ability to define the various structures we were seeing. A very worthwhile point of interest.

We stopped in the visitor center and purchased sleds (@ $15 each) for use on the dunes. We drove to a couple of spots and played on the dunes. Bring sunglasses because it is very bright and hard on the eyes. The sand feels like sugar and doesn't stick to you. The sand itself was also rather cool even though... More

Very interesting place. After stopping at the visitors center, drive all the way back to the shelter area. Make sure you've got something the sit on to sled down the dunes (a cardboard box flattened out will work).

The gypsum sand here is so fine and such a pure white color that you would swear its snow. The film in the visitor center is one of the best we've seen. The short out and back drive into the white sands has some interesting stops with walks on a boardwalk or on the sand directly. We were there on... More

White Sands has been on my list of places to go. Absolutely amazing. Enjoyed climbing on the sand dunes and was able to capture some fantastic photos. Worth the visit. Gift shop is very good!
