Moti jarna is located at top of a mountain and very beautiful sight on the top of the hill. it was January first week while we visited Jarna and there were lot of visitors camping and having cooking, enjoying the marvellous scenery of jarna. It is roughly 18 km from Jami Masjid and Baradari, located in Sahebganj district. Water flows in three pools and coming from over top of hillside. There is a temple on the top and a small park where kids can play.…

A nice place for a day trip near the town of Sahibganj (Jharkhand). The volume of water increases during the rainy season. We visited in August last year (it was nearly 10-15 days without rains that time)- and the water was already quite thin. The area is quite green, and during the month of Sravana (July-August), many pilgrims visit the falls on their way to Baba Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar)- so its quite safe then. There is a small mandir (temple) near the falls. Most of my partners had a nice shower. For people visiting from far off places, three points are to be considered: (1) There is a dearth of good hotels in the town of Sahibganj, and there can be cases of your pre-booking given to someone else if the demand is great (like during examinations for Govt. jobs / railways, etc); (2) Medical facilities just do not exist (in the town) in real terms- we had a friend who needed to be taken to hospital, and what followed was a terrible experience; and (3) Better to take AC vehicles from Sahibganj to the Jharna spot. This 40-45 minute ride can be a bitter experience if you travel in auto / cars with windows open- in roads that almost do not exist (it did not exist when we travelled), and the air is so polluted due to illegal mining activities (they are just stealing away the hills- may be in the next 20-30 years, the whole area will be flattened), so the dust will not only make you look white, but also cause serious problem to your lungs. However, on reaching the spot, you will like it.…

Planned the trip to Moti Jharna multiple times but for some reason or the other it always failed. At last one day I decided to travel the place and went for it all alone. I like to trek and so opted the 4km walk to Jharna from Maharajpur station (however their are other modes of transport available). It was an outstanding and remarkable experience. Before the travel I tried to find the travel details from internet, but hardly found anything related to the place. So, I decided to post some information which can help other travelers. How to reach :- ============= * Nearest major town is Sahibganj. One can book local cab from Sahibganj which will take you to the jharna and will bring you back to Sahibganj. * For budget trip, traveler can take a passenger/express train from Sahibganj to Maharajpur (Passenger train dare = Rs.10 and Express train fare = Rs.15). Its 15 min journey to Maharajpur from Sahibganj in train. from the Maharajpur station one can come to main road and hire the auto-rickshaw which will charge Rs.150 to 200 (negotiable) for the trip from Station to Moti Jharna and back. [N.B : Train frequency is less so plan accordingly]…
