Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

Not as we thought it would be. A lot of fruits and flowers but it would look nice if it would be a clean area.

This place is a town by-itself. If you enjoy moving in the crowd and shop for good materials at reasonable prices, then this is the place to visit. Stalls of flowers looks very colourful and inviting. One can get more or less everything in this area.

Old Bangalore lives here!!! The new entrants to Bangalore must visit this place to know how beautiful this city was in the past! This area can be compared to the Ranganathan street in Chennai where you can get anything you want.

Gandhi Bazar is a good traditional market with all sort of shops and restaurants which serves traditional to modern food like Vidyarthi Bhavan, roti ghar etc. Bull temple is also situated in Basavanagudi. It also has flower market on one side of the road and vegetable on the other side. One can find everything required for daily need.

ಬಸವನಗುಡಿ ( Basavanagudi ) - old school place for native bangaloreans. The name Basavanagudi refers to the famous Bull Temple, which contains a monolith statue of the Nandi Bull. Basavanagudi is not just a place like other areas in bangalore its something special and emotionally attached to kannadigas . This is one of the oldest parts of Bangalore which flourished... More

I must write something about Karnataka state and Bengaluru in particular to better understand its localities from its own perspective. This age old city comprises of its core values, culture, habits, and lifestyle strongly embedded in the lives of Bengalurians or Kannadigas. The spoken language of the original inhanbitants of this state of Karnataka is "Kannada" and so they are... More

Basavanagudi: Bull temple when translated is the heart of traditional south Bangalore. Gandhi Bazaar (or market) is in the centre of it with criss crossing of a few roads. This market is a must visit for any tourist visiting Bangalore. The entire street is filled with road side sellers of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. It is really colourful to... More
