Malleswaram, that bastion of Tamilians in Bangalore, is another locale that is a whole world away from India’s silicon city. Watch maamis in their kanjeevarams haggle in the market, visit a temple or two, eat local food and browse through small shops. The Kaadu Malleswara Temple and Sankey Tank are oases of calm amid the bustle. A new arrival on the scene is the incongruous Mantri Mall, much reviled for being the harbinger of modernization in Malleswaram.

Has mantri mall and Orion mall as good hangouts. Some great temples like ISKON. Has metro running through it.

Malleswaram is famous for its temples, crowded 8th cross, vegetarian restaurants serving authentic south Indian dishes. There are several very old temples in this area. It has lots of greenery and the famous Indian Institute of Science is in the vicinity.

If you are keen to know how the old Bangalore looked like, visit Malleshwaram. There is still some soul left here. The greenery, the shops and the filter coffee - you won't regret coming here. Oh and now, the traffic. ;)

Malleswaram is one of the best places for shopping, temples, restaurants especially vegetarian restaurants. You can find a market where you can shop for flowers, fruits and vegetables which can be much cheaper compared to shops like More or Reliance. Overall it is fantastic place.
