This is just a small construction which gives you a decent view of the backwaters. This is where the ferry to Tannirbhavi beach starts, so, combine the two trips. Not worth a separate visit.

This is a historical spot but has been reduced to a spot where people meet in the evenings and couples are spotted searching a spot in the shade. The place is poorly maintained and one could preferably skip it. makes sense going there only if you have time on hands with nothing to do!

It is a nice place on the banks of Gurpur River. Understand it is going to get a face lift. Tippu Sultan used to use this small Fort located in Sultan Battery for watching Enemy movements in the Sea located near by. There is a convenient launch Service which takes one to the other side of Sultan Battery. From this... More

The beach is located at a place where we have to cross the river in a speed boat or a steamer boat. You will find some white coloured Jelly Fish like creatures in that river. Yet the river view is good and the beach forest is a spot for photographers not to miss.

If you are visiting you should do this trip.. there isn't much in the building itself but most of it is in the view and a boat ride across the river.. you should be able to get to the beach after..

There's very little left of the 18th century fortifications at the northern end of Mangalore, the remnants of a fortified tower. Worth visiting to get a view of the river and the land across the river, several ferries can take you across. Two small cafes and a bit of a beach, plus the usual 'souvenir' stalls selling the same unwanted... More

There are good views over the water from the top of the battery which would otherwise be well worth missing - very unkempt and lots of rubbish everywhere.
