Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

History, great food, shopping and just outside is an area wholesale spices. The synagogue is a great introduction to Jewish history of the area. We returned in another day and enjoyed an area filled with businesses specializing in wholesale spice trade. While not a colorful spice market, we enjoyed the steps and the architecture.

Mattancherry Palace in Kochi is a captivating historical site that beautifully showcases the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. With its exquisite architecture and well-preserved artifacts, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's royal past. A must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and admirers of traditional art.

Mattancherry was once a busy spice and tea trading hub and now it is a prominent tourist center with attractions like the Paradesi synagogue, Jew street, Mattancherry Palace(Dutch Palace), Police Tourism Station and Museum, Dharmanath Jain Temple, Coonan Cross Shrine etc, Apart from these one can see numerous arts, crafts, antiques shops, spices shops cafeterias etc. The streets and shops were crowded with tourists and most of the shops and the attractions were live even during night when I visited Mattancherry one week back.

Mattancherry is famous for its Dutch Palace, Jew Street, Synagogue and the shops that sell all things unique about Kerala. A lot has been written about those. I am going to write about the least popular attraction of Mettancherry: the boat jetty.

The jetty is bang opposite the main entrance of the Dutch Palace. A small sign board quietly announces its existence. You will not find many tourists around this area. The jetty is mainly used for local boat traffic. Public boats - similar to public buses - make a quick stop at this tiny harbour before proceeding to their long list of destinations.

During afternoon you get to see some double-decker motorized launches picking up tourists for boating. You pay some nominal amount for a ride lasting about an hour and half. As you float around in the area between Wellingdon Island and mainland, you get to see Cochin Port and its huge ships from a distance. This is the only way you can view the port, which is otherwise a restricted area.

Sharing some photos that I clicked.

A lovely area which can be reached via the ferry from Fort Cochin or Tuk Tuk or via an organised tour. The streets are lined with shops and stalls selling lovely Keralan gifts A real buzz.

Another nice area in Fort Kochi to have a slow walk. I went there to visit the Dutch palace but enjoyed walking the surrounding streets as well. The area has its own atmosphere, a mix of colonial style and indian reality

Lots of faces....streets bustling with people from different country, Chinese fishing cantilevers, container terminal, huge ships carrying cargos, indeed a nice sight.

A stroll around the place was really refreshing, we had pure fruit juice at one of the joints which was served without any siode, water, ice or sugar. Lots of colorful stalls selling clothes, gift items etc.
