Arrogant staff! The place lacks credibility and authenticity. Just one of those places to loot foreign tourists. It's such a shame in the heart of Fort Cochin. If you want to get harassed and stared at, try here.

Kathakali theatre is a fascinating form of theatre, and it dates back hundreds of years. It was being performed at the same time Shakespeare was penning his plays in London. One arrives early and can watch one or more performers applying the complicated make up. This is a very elaborate and painstaking process. The performance then begins. Incrediblly minute and... Recorded audio quality was terrible. Theatre seating arrangement its a room with Chairs not a theatre. Performance was not worth the show price.

Visited with group of friends. There are two types of tickets Rs 350 and Rs 650. The Rs 650 one gives two additional performance s of kalaripayittu and bharatnatyam but they will cover both additional acts in 20 min, so no point paying extra money. Kathakali is good and can be enjoyed for about an hour. Close to bus stand... More

The lady and man managing Folklore Cultural Theatre told me (on the afternoon of June 26, 2016) that they have two type of tickets - one for Rs. 350, which includes 2 hours of Kathakali and Mohiniyattam, and another ticket for Rs. 650, which had two more items, including Kalaripayattu. I paid up Rs. 650. I saw in the printout... More

Spellbound by this show. One needs to arrive at 5pm to see the make up applied. This was followed by some very humorous and expertly delivered acting. It helps to have some idea of the story beforehand. After our visit, we began to see these characters all over the place, in museums, shops, decorations and it was good to have... More

I was fortunate to watch a mesmerising performance by two artists dressed the part of a man and a woman, with one live singer and a drummer create a magical ambiance for this energetic pantomime. The gestures are explained in advance so when the performance takes place, it's a revelation. They also have a martial arts showcasing called Kalaripayattu and... More
