It is a beach located under the cliff which is quite unique in itself. Even in early morning hours people can be spotted jogging, walking, doing yoga, surfing. In the mornings, fisherman can be seen catching fishes and some fishes even wash up to the shore. The beach is well connected to the cliff where one can go and have... More

The sunrise is awesome but is a really touristic beach and not really clean. But that is India, they don't really know about keeping their own environment clean and nice, but for sure they will improve. After that, the coast is plenty of shops and ayurvedic places where you can have massages (I haven't done it yet).

Varkala´s beach is fantastic with warm waters and never overcrowded. It has a few restaurants and cafes just by the beach.

You will absolutely love this beach. Large waves, warm water, clean as hell (or heaven?), friendly people, lifeguard, at least someone with a loud whistle, on duty. Sunset is awesome as well. Only gripe I have is the walk from the cliff to the beach via unpredictable steps. Apparently there's a less cumbersome path, but we didn't get a chance... More

The North part of the beach is busier, with some lovely restaurants and even a Temple - the South part is quieter with a long stretch of glorious sand. The water temperature is incredible! But be careful of the strong currents when you are swimming... a few people that I spoke to had taken quite a tumble and hurt themselves... More

This is a long sprawling beach. It's certainly nice but not anything special when compared to the renowned beaches of the world. Notwithstanding, the cliff face certainly adds to its uniqueness and beauty. There are very few water sports (none mechanized), and even fewer people touting services and goods on the beach.

Lovely beach with brilliant wave conditions. Overlooked by a cliff with lots of good food restaurants at a really low price. Accommodation is cheap. Downside is the Indians inability to deal with rubbish. With spectacular views spoilt by rubbish and especially plastic bottles, but don't let this put you off. It's great!
