Sacred place of Hindus. There is a natural spout up here. It's considered that a dip in this will washes all your sins.

It's a good beach, very close to Varkala so you can't really tell the difference about when you're in which one if you walk too far either side. The poojas for deceased are carried here so it not that great for other activities.

This is very small beach and usually used for carrying rituals for deceased persons. Not so great for other beach activities.

This is a place where all relevant poojas for deceased people performed. It is not a big place but one can enjoy the beach activities.

I loved this beach, from dawn and throughout the morning pilgrims come to the Brahmans installed on the beach to make offerings to their departed relatives. Later on people from the surrounding areas come to enjoy the beach, they promenade, fly kites and play volleyball....More

You have to walk down a km steep to reach Papanasam beach. Small land area and a place to keep legs in water. Sharp and rough waves and the guard will always whistle when u step in. Also it is an extension of Varkala beach...More

It be nice if you book a hotel near the Papanashanam beach where you intend to perform the rituals. The public toilet is not good and I would not suggest it. The beach is always crowded. Please book a hotel for one day... More
