- praharsh k5 contributionsLife-Changing ExperienceThe entire palace was shrouded in beautiful greenery. The museum teaches so much history of Gandhiji, Kasturbai and Mahadev Desai and the Indian Freedom Struggle in general. The memorials of Mahadev Desai and Kasturbai (and a small Gandhiji memorial) with their ashes are here. It is truly life-changing to tread through the paths that these great humans once tread and watch pieces of their life. Some of Kasturbai's and Gandhiji's personal items are also on display. Kasturbai passed away in one of the galleries here, it is the only locked gallery.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023

It is a beautiful place, and as you walk through the different rooms you can read and learn about Mahatma Gandhi. The gardens outside the palace are beautiful too. - John the cyclistJomtien Beach, Thailand44 contributionsPeace and quiet in an history steeped setting.Great way to spend an hour or two learning about the ins and outs of the Quit India movement and Gandhi's involvement during this historic time. Beautiful gardens add to the serenity of the setting. Only a 30 minute bus ride from the GPO means it is easily accessible to those who may only have limited stay in the city.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 August 2024

The location is almost invisible like. It doesn't scream from the road and seek attention. It's hidden in greens.
When we enter, we come into a different world, separated from the city. No noise, no one hustling around you. It immediately brings you calm.
The place itself is well maintained and tells the story of Mahatma well.

We visited this place on the independence day weekend. So the entry was free, else rs. 25 is charged. Parking is available. We had high expectations as it was one of the highly rated places to visit in pune. The palace is huge and well maintained, however only the ground floor is open for public. It gives a good insight about part of our rich history, esp related to Mahatma Gandhi, old library of Kasturbaji, and the samadhi. You can complete all within an hour. DSLR is not allowed inside. Huge open area where kids can play. Recommended if the palace is on the way of your trip, otherwise it can be avoided.

Agha Khan Palace is a majestic building in Pune, India. The palace served as a prison for Mahatma Gandhi. It has Italian arches, spacious lawn and is a photographers delight. Enjoy the history of Indian struggle for freedom through your lens

this place has memories of Gandhiji and Kasturba. The details are well presented in posters etc. but an audio guide would be even more interesting for the new generation. Only the ground floor is open for visitors. It looked like a dull-dead place. Need to add some life to this beautiful monument.

I've heard that photoshoot is prohibited at Aga Khan palace. Is that true? If not what do they usually charge for a pre wedding photoshoot lasting for 2-3 hours?
Written 10 September 2019
They don't allow photography inside the building! But there is no restrictions on photography outside in the front lawns of the palace!!!
Written 10 September 2019
You can but I do not think it is really worth that much.
