Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a museum with a very extensive collection, but it was not my favorite museum that I visited in Bhubaneswar. There was lots to look at, but the displays weren’t very informative or educational. I spent about an hour and a half exploring the museum and felt like that was enough. The grounds outside the museum and in the courtyard are beautifully landscaped.

We went to this museum on the last day of our stay at Cuttack. It has different sections and is as such a large museum. It gives a good background of the state's history. But the way in which the explanation is written doesnt make it very exciting. We saw this for about 2 hours and left.

The priceless history of Odisha sits in this poorly run and managed museum. You get this feeling the mgmt doesn't care. Why would you be so strict about visitors getting too close to the modern, resin tableau at the entrance but totally ignore ppl touching and manhandling the antiquity in the halls?? Displays are poorly lit and labeled. Corridors are dark and dinghy and toilets stink to high heavens! It is so sad to see how no effort is being made to care for the treasures of the state. Be careful of touts who will insist on doing a guided tour as you arrive at the gates. Ignore and walk into the museum. A nominal entrance fee is applicable.

The Orissa temple artefacts were really something to wonder. Old manuscripts & sculpture need more time to look into. It was a wonderful one hour that I spent there on my way to airport. Needs more time to visit all the galleries. Nothing to dislike though.

This place is worth a visit. I have visited the state museum of many states in India. This one is best among all in my views. It gives the picture of the culture anc tradition of India from various angles. This place is nicely organized and maintained. This is closed on Monday. If you are in the city of Bhubaneswar you must visit this place. It need half a day or more depending upon your interest. Very near to this place is Bhanja Kala Mandap where lot of cultural programs are organized by the tourist dept. If you are interested you can check with the each day schedule.

Orissa state museum, located at the Kalpana Square in Bhubaneswar, is a well-maintained museum with a whole lot of rare collections of statues, archaeological collections, pictures, Patta paintings, ancient music instruments, palm leaf manuscripts, models and the like. You could almost spend a whole day if you are interested in the history and the life style of Orissa. Well done Orissa State Government!

Located in the capital city of Odisha, this institution holds important exhibits related to various subjects including archaeology, epigraphy, local jewellery and ornaments, local art work including patta paintings and masks, dresses, musical instruments, weapons and armoury etc. The museum is highly recommended for a visit for around 2 hours.

We took an Uber ($3.60) from our Mango Hotel 4 km south to Lingaraj Temple and saw the temples of Ekamara Kshetra on the 2.5 km walk north to this museum.
After paying 20 Inr each, we walked up the curving lane bordered with flowers and topiaries to enter the large 2 story building built in 1960 with numerous halls surrounding an interior court; a beautiful flower garden where we joined other couples taking lovely photos. Inside, we progressed from hall to hall on the ground floor then took the elevator to the upper floor. The 10 halls include an impressive preservation of 7th-11th C stone sculptures, then displays of coins, paintings, jewelry, musical instruments, weapons, natural history, and furniture. Most of the artifacts had short English descriptions but some halls lacked dates.
Overall, a great use of 2 hours..

The State Museum in State Capital Bhubaneswar is such a place where the culture and life of Odisha Preserved in a very Sentimental depiction. It creates a knowledge hub for young kids to know and learn about what they read in Books. All family with young kids must visit and note down the experience.
