Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is so amazing with the explanation from property guide. I was so lucky to have the owner for the guide so I can understand precious knowledge of this property. The small entrance fee will help this property to continue stay for people in the future to study the cleverness of the old people who built this haweli. It is easily ten minutes walk from the fort. Please do not miss it if you go to Jaisalmer but please see it with the guide.

This haveli is still lived in and for a small entrance fee you can climb the stairs to the rooftop, from where you have a slightly better view of the outside of the central part of the haveli. Apart from this, there is little of interest to see as most of the building is closed to the public as it is a private residence. It's not worth spending time and money to visit this haveli and from the 3 "famous" havelis in Jaisalmer, this is by far the least beautiful (but still a nice building). However, if you are nearby it's worth taking a look at the outside.

Salim Singh..served as Prime Minister of Rpyal family of jaisalmer..his 200 year old Haveli is one the best piece of architecture wonder of Jaisalmer..a must visit..
As it is still provate property and not under ASI..due to lack of proper maintenance, with a nominal ticket price n limited visitors, the Condition of Haveli is alarming..
Still..the window n balcony architecture is spectacular, one family man guide over the safe part of haveli rooms, a visit hardly of 20 minutes, with some personal collections and brief history, a place worth to visit..specially who love history n architectural photography..

Salim Singh was the prime minister of the Kingdom. Salim Singh Ki Haveli is a private property, situated amidst a marketplace. Visitors’ entry is not allowed, one has to see the haveli from the outside, nothing exceptional. In short, no regret even if it is missed.

The guy running the place was at first friendly and kind when we entered. We were charged 50 rupees each for tickets, i had expected to wander around the haveli freely as in others within Jaisalmer. Instead, the guy running the place told us to follow him through several rooms where meanings of the architecture and purpose were described. After, we were led into a room where "the prime ministers" things had belonged, I was actually quite intrigued by the space...
Untill the guy running the place started naming prices of objects in rupees... "This one only 300 rupees... this one 900....this one..." and so on. I said we weren't interested at the moment and asked if we could continue viewing other areas of the haveli... he then led us into another room where he said things could be had cheaper. That we should spend our time to look.... WHAT?! We were here to see the house ! In Jaisalmer! Not buy touristy Chinese made knickknack in a dodgy spot...
I very kindly said we could see things another time, he was then forcefully asking why we weren't interested in anything. That things were cheap, that his...lamp oils (where did this come from?) had no chemicals, that we should take our time. I began to step out of the room, quickly he shut the light off and said ok ok, let's go... And led us 3 flights downstairs and out of the haveli.
Horrible experience, can't imagine how this was upvoted on tripadvisor somehow.

i reached at this place, took the visiting ticket that cost me around 40-50 bucks, and reception person pointed me that place i should visit to see beauty of this haveli. but the disappointing thing was that i didn't find anything to praise.
Then i backed to the same person, then he was like you should take guide he will explain you what is the history of this hawali, which is quite interesting. apart from this there is nothing to see, basically this is a residential house.
My suggestion is don't waste your money and time to check out this place, Patwaon ki Haveli is far better than this place.

I have to say the guide at the Salim Singh-ki Haveli was just the best,. He gave a presentation – particularly the management of the environment in the context of history as well as the future. This haveli (which does not have the ornate interiors such as the nearby Patwa-ki_Haveli) is a authentic glimpse into people's lives 200 years ago.

The Salam Sing Ki Haveli is a short walk from the entrance of the Jaisalmer Fort.
This haveli has a very unique shape. It is narrow upto the top floor where it widens into a room with a series of exquisitely carved balconies.
We were shown around by Gajender Mohta (Gaju) who gave us the history of the haveli, and explained its unique architecture (gaps between the floors, etc) and the innovative measures that were incorporated while building the haveli to alert and protect the occupants in the event that they faced an attack by assassins in the middle of the night.
He also explained to us the care which was taken to conserve and recycle water in the 18th and 19th centuries.
We were indeed very fortunate it meet Gajender.
Highly recommended.

Like Nathmal Haveli this Salim Singh Haveli is slightly unmaintained. Salim Singh was a Minister under the King. The king used to rely on him very much but Salim Singh wanted to topple him and become the king. So his Haveli was bombarded from the Fort when King came to know about his plans. This is what people there tell.

Actual pronunciation is Saalim Singh ki haveli. It is a beautiful mansion of Saalim Singhji and having nice architecture of the old age.
There is entry fee of Rs 45/- which is not worth to see. Also the entry fee is not authentically collected by government but privately!!!

Hi Keniya,
Welcome to India and hope you have a wonderful time.
Since I am not sure when you will be reaching Jaisalmer and where you would be staying, I will restrict my response in sequence of visit assuming you have 2 full days as you said.
Day 1: Start around 9 am
Morning -
Jaisalmer Fort
Salim Singh Ki Haveli
Patwaon ki Haveli
Shopping near Patwaon ki Haveli
Evening – Desert Safari Start around 3:30 pm from your place of stay, if you are staying in the city. It takes around 1 – 1:30 hrs to reach the dunes
Day 2:
Morning - Kuldhara Village (The abandoned village) – Start very early in the morning so that you can be back by afternoon.
Evening –
Bada Bagh – Cenotaphs of the kings
Ghadisar Lake – Boating
Day 3:
On your way back to Jodhpur or Bikaner, whatever is your plan, you can visit the Jaisalmer War memorial, if it interests you.
Hope this helps.
