- Travelhaze777Hoi An, Vietnam58 contributionsIncredible, authentic palace in JaisalmerThe royal palace is stunning and so well maintained. We are thankful this brilliant property was included in our itinerary. It really added to much to the flavour of our experience. The staff were exceptional and very attentive and caring. They really worked hard to ensure we had everything we needed. Thank you so much to Mandir Palace. We look forward to spreading the news of this incredible property and staff.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 February 2024
- Stay362461719613 contributionsGreat ExperienceMe and my friend visited Mandir Palace in Feb 2024. The property is well maintained and is a heritage one. There are around 2 of heritage suite . One of them is near the museum which is inside the hotel and open to public so this is not the best room to stay as you may get disturbed with outside public. We stayed in a heritage suite near the pool side. This one is a modern room with spacious attached bathroom. The rooms are different as it used to be a palace now converted into a hotel. Their rooftop is amazing for sunrise and sunset and they provide buffet dinner on rooftop. We enjoyed Laal Maans here before leaving this place. It was really delicious. They dont have a big spread of breakfast but it is descent. The staff are friendly and helpful. In the heart of the city too. NSVisited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 24 February 2024
- Sandy_JSRJamshedpur, India2,136 contributionsQuick visit to relatively small museumAs part of our stay at Mandir Palace Hotel, the entry was free. It is relatively a small museum, displaying the Royal heritage lifestyle. The exhibits include weapons and objects of daily use from the private collection of the Royal Family and the furniture and decorations from the old palace. The complex is well maintained. The museum visit may be done in quick time.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 May 2024

This is a heritage building which houses a hotel as well. If you stay at the hotel which is being run in the building then it's okay but if you visit it as a tourist then you have to pay about Rs 150 to see this place. Money is okay but what you get to see inside the building is very disappointing. Only a very small portion would say insignificant part is open for tourists (just a small room). Better not to waste your time and money here.

Total waste of time and money. It was most expensive to visit at 160 rupees entry fee per person. There was so little to see.
Not worth even for 1/4 the price. If I could, I would demand a refund.
What a disappointment. I would give it 0 rating.

Arriving at the hotel I was blown away by the grandeur of the architecture of the hotel building which is part of the Palace; the current Maharaja's residence and the museum being in other parts of the complex.
This review is about the Mandir Palace hotel and not the museum. As a hotel resident entry to the small museum is included in the price of your stay. It is worth a look round if you get time, the silver furniture being a highlight.
This was my favorite place to stay during our Indian travels. The atmosphere created by the buildings, the attentive and charming staff, the location ( very central with short walks to the market), views of the Fort, the tradionally appointed rooms dating from a former times but with all mod cons, and the overall ambience, made it a unique and fantastic experience.
I would highly recommend the roof top restaurant, not only for the views of the Fort but the food. My partner said his curry was good and I was grateful for some decent Western food.

We just went to see the palace and paid Rs100 each- it was an absolute rip off as all we got to see was a tiny room with glass doors inside. Behind each door were some artefacts. We thought there was more to see after that but found out that was it! We were finished within 10 minutes!
Would not recommend the viewing of this palace at all. It is not a question of money but dont like these families making fool of ordinary people- so dont bother to waste your time and money.
We did not stay at the hotel.

In the heart of the city, as close as possible to the historic citadel, we have the privilege, the happiness of residing in a magnificent palace. Certainly the most beautiful in town. The staff is attentive, very attentive, always available and eager. The rooms are large with always beautiful views. The bedding is impeccable and changed every day, the bathroom is very good. The breakfasts are top notch with omelettes the way I like them, fruit, pastries, everything is good and more than sufficient. Ask for Masala tea.... The meals are up to par, whether buffet or plated, everything is good, tasty, spiced just right and again you are asked each time and for each dish your desires for spices. the nan breads are to die for. In the evening you can dine in the courtyard with braziers which warm up the slightly cool temperature at night. Musicians play traditional music and ask your first names to sing your praises, a massage and spa service available, a beautiful swimming pool but I admit in February it is a little cool... No complaints about this wonderful establishment . Wander through the corridors, the passages, visit the museum, look at the photos of the Belle Epoque and you are plunged back into the 1900s. This Mandir Palace deserves its name.

A beautiful building in the middle of Jaiselmer from which you could probably make a hotel dream. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Except the room rates is actually little according to the stated 4 stars.
Pool not usable (construction site, dirty, tiles broken on the ground, water smells strong), room minimalist, restaurant with very limited supply (e.g. no tandoori because oven broken).
Unfortunately, a child got so sick after the pool visit that we ended up in the hospital.

Living here, amidst the beautifully carved stone facades and interiors was an absolute pleasure. The intricate stonework and architecture is a treat for the eyes. Staying in the Suryamahal suite, we had a first hand experience of the royal lifestyle of a bygone era. Quintisentially Jaisalmer !! Thanks to the Royal family of Jaisalmer for opening their house and hearts for us all to experience this historical piece of our architectural heritage.
Location is right in the middle of the city.
The food could be better. Service was adequate. Staff was courteous. Lots of temples on site, and an interesting museum. Lots of small seperate wings connected with manicured green spaces. Beautiful views of the jaisalmer fort from the rooftop restaurant.

We stayed for one night. The place is lovely. In the day it's brimming with tourists. It's right in the middle of the city. The room was excellent. It has royal touch but also had modern amenities like air con, shower etc.
The food (lunch and breakfast) was good. The food hall is not quite big. During breakfast when there were too many people, it was difficult to move around. The choices for breakfast were not too many. The staff though is very helpful.
In the evening, as is common in Rajasthan, there was a cultural program. The singers were excellent.
We went out into the city during the night. We had a cup of tea and later a glass of hot milk. Both were excellent.
Our driver said good things about the room he stayed and the dinner he got,
Don't miss moving around the palace. It is big. It bears good Rajasthani architecture.
In summary, a lovely place to stay.

Hi how costly is the roof top restaurant ?we are a group of 4...is it worth it?
Written 16 September 2018
Restaurent is costly. If you really want roof top experience , I'll suggest you to go inside the fort. Many good roof tops are there.
