We enjoyed this fascinating collection of the Jodhpur royal family and the history of the building of the Umaid Bhawan Palace - such a gift to the people of Jodhpur.

The palace museum is not as great as other museums in Rajasthan. It may be because the royal family still lives there on another side. The surroundings are kept neat, the palace is situated on a hilltop. Only one hour is required to cover this place. There is a display of vintage cars just opposite to the palace building.

The Umed Bhavan museum exhibits collection of clocks in windmill and light house shapes which is unique.Other than that the museum has painting , armours , household things which every royal family possess. The museum is small which i like the most , otherwise it happened to be boring for a person like me who is not fond of history and... Something common across museums housed in Palaces in Rajasthan is they all have the articles belonging to/used by the Royal family of that specific palace. Same is the scene here in Umaid Bhawan Palace museum. You get to see the the various items belonging to/used by Jodhpur rulers. Apart from this, you see the model of the Umaid Bhawan palace.... Nothing to see here. A really very small area is accessible to people and you cant even see the entire palace even from outside. Front and back is owned by Taj hotel. You can see front from outside without a ticket and back side, which actually has a huge garden and is worth seeing, is not at all accessible to... More

The museum isn't that big as Umaid bhavan is divided into royal residence, museum and hotel, but has lot to offer in terms of history to visitors. Get awed by the lifestyle of kings by being here. You would wish you were born in royal family as well ;) However you can get beautiful pics clicked with Umaid bhavan in its... More

The grounds and the palace building ate impressive for sure. The museum offers insight into the history, but the more interesting elements are the rooms housing the museum! The car collection is nice to see, but the beautiful cars are badly presented and very difficult to even see through the dusty glass windows.
