A unique statue on the approach way to Jaswant Thada. It is just a one stop for photo shoot. But the security personnel doesn't allow to go towards the statue. The restriction os due to some previous accident that happed with careless visitors. However, afternoon light is best suited for the perfect click.

Well kept statue commemorating Rao Jodha, can easily be viewed. Nicely polished. Nicely cleaned. Nicely sculpted.

High on a hill, ask your driver to stop at a good point so that you get the best shot, probably in the way up to the Fort is the best place. An imposing statue that is easy to miss if you are too busy admiring the Fort walls.

The Rao Jodha Ji Statue is set on a small hilltop on the road leading to Jaswant Thada. This statue is of the founder of Jodhpur City and his horse.
The location of the statue is dramatic and impressive: Jaswant Thada on one side and Mehrangarh Fort on the other. The statue actually depicts Rao Jodha Ji pointing towards the fort, which is a nice touch.
The statue is blocked off by iron grills that encircle it but you can still take some great photos here.

Coming from Europe and specifically the UK I tend to not get excited by statues of historical famous blokes on horses as I have seen a fair few of these in my time.
In fact usually it is the setting of the statue, such as in a capital park, or in formal gardens or in the middle of a major traffic junction that makes the statue interesting. Or perhaps the unwritten code to how the famous person died, ( I tend to get this round the wrong way and if I do I am sure someone will correct me but if both the horses front legs are planted on the floor then the rider died peacefully in his bed, but if one or more of them are in the air then the occupant met his death in battle), and I'm not sure if that unwritten code is followed here.
This statue seems to be placed just by the main road up to the fort and it wasn't even obvious when we passed if you could get to it and it certainly wasn't in any picturesque setting or formal gardens.
So if you happen to be looking in the right direction when travelling to and from the fort then by all means say" look there's Rao Jodha Jibon his horse pointing", but don't make any special efforts to search out this so called attraction.

you will see this statue on the small hilltop on road conecting to mehrangarh fort to jaswant thada,it was built in honour of ruler Rao jodha ji ,founder of jodhpur

Rao Jodha Ji Statue is set on a small hilltop along the road that leads to Jaswant Thada (near the Mehrangarh Fort). It was built in the honour of Rao Jodha Ji, who founded the beautiful city of Jodhpur.

Rather new to the Jodhpur scene is the recently inaugurated statue to Rao Jodha Ji, the founder of Jodhpur city in 1459, which is found on a small hilltop, along the road that leads to Jaswant Thada just after the turnoff to Mehrangarh Fort. You can't miss it, its on the right side of the road.
The Rao Jodha Ji Statue faces towards Mehrangarh Fort, showing the city founder on horseback pointing in the direction of the fort. Its interesting enough 5 minutes for a quick stop before making your way to Jaswant Thada.
If you are walking to Jaswant Thada, you will encounter a statue of Rao Jodha Ji just on the side of the road - simply walk up to the monument. If driving, it seems ok to just park your car there for a few minutes and walk up to the statue.

Do not treat Jodhaji statue as a standalone visit. It is on the way to Mehrangarh fort just before taking a right turn to Jaswant Thada. When you get down at Jaswant Thada you may also click a few pics of the statue.
The statue is surrounded by iron gates and you cannot go nearby.
