Poorly maintained boats are of severe concern, though the site is amazing and clean water of Chambal river is worth a boat ride. Operators first inform of accommodating 8 persons in a boat on sharing basis but will force you to sit in a 12 seater boat. Boat was frequently stopping in mid waters, reverse gear was getting jammed and boat driver was not at all concerned as he was only driving the boat assigned to him. Boat did not had safety railing to hold with hands while during ride.
Small life jackets for Kids were not provided / probably not available and kids had to be stuffed inside adult life jackets. However we noticed that, the boats ferrying Foreigners seemed in very good condition and foreigners had life jackets appearing new. By chance or intentional.
On complaining about the boat' condition, RTDC officials and operators calmly commented as "technical faults" can happen. Probably Indian lives do not command same attention by RTDC. Will be very scared to undertake next boat ride by RTDC operation at any location.

Do NOT keep any over expectations when going for the Chambal Lake boat ride to watch the Ghariyal (Crocodiles).

While on a 45 minute boat ride, we could only spot about 4 big crocodiles and lots of water birds. The boat ride is otherwise very peaceful and the surroundings are very serene.

The cost of the 45 minutes boat ride is Rs. 700 per person and there are about 12 people cramped on a small boat.

Not really worth the money you spend on the taxi to reach there and the actual boat ride.

We went to go,got there buy taxi, was charged double than what was arranged
Got on boat no other tourists,so they then said they wanted even more money for personal boat
So we payed like idiots,we were then left on a little unsafe boat down at the dock,1.5 hours without moving,my farther is 70 and it almost killed him, eventually we got off and I had to really shout at the guys to get all money back
We then returned to hotel 2 hrs away with a totally waisted trip
Guy's I been India 5 times and never exspirence a trip like it
I'd stay well away from booking this,it may well save your life
I'll include pictures so you know to avoid like the plaig
Money over safety with these guys at chambal river safari

Its an awesome place to see crocodiles and alligators in their natural habitat . The place is not far from Ranthambore National Park and it make sense to club it with the visit to park . Be the early bird to catch crocodiles and alligators taking a sun bath before the vibration of motorboats rattle them back to river .Crocodiles will not disappoint you though . A paradise for bird lovers

What you need to know before you visit is that crocodiles are cold blooded animals who can't regulate their body temperature, so in the winters when it's cold they need warmth of sunshine and in the summers they need coolness of water. Gharials bask daily in the cold season, foremost in the mornings, and prefer sandy and moist beaches. They change their basking pattern with increasing daily temperatures; they start basking earlier in the mornings, move back into the river when it is hot, and return to the beach later in the afternoon.
Naturally the safari guys will tell you that anytime you visit you'll see a lot of crocs but that isn't true. Winters is the best time to see a lot of crocs as they bask on the beach and you can observe them, in summers they remain in water mostly so you'll just see their snout or the outline of their back. In summers the best time is early morning or late afternoon and in winters the daytime when sunshine is full. Irrespective of all this, anytime you visit you'll see around 3-4 crocs/gharials for sure. The objective of the safari is to see crocs afterall you can have a boat ride in any lake.
However the safari guys are knowledgeable, polite and make all the efforts to get you the best possible sighting at the time.

Verry serene location to relax on a winter sunnny day. Rudra Pratap 070140 71463 helped us with the location and arranged a comfortable boat ride to spot the Crocodiles and Ghadiyal.
They also serve Maggi & Tea
Good for day visit

Don't bother going here unless it's sunny. Crocodiles will only come out if it's sunny. It's quite a distance from Sawai Madhopur so don't waste your time and money going there without checking the weather. The boating experience itself is overrated and overhyped. Not worth visiting. You can see plenty of crocodiles lazing in the sunshine, all along the banks of the lake on your tiger safari inside the sanctuary.
