With less than 3% oxygen and -10 degree temperature at nearly 18000 feet, this is one of the most splendid journeys. Without experiencing this lake, the trip to Sikkim is incomplete. One has to start at 3 in the morning from Lachen on a bumpy path with frozen water on the sideways. One can see the waterfalls and the river... More

All the hard work and bad road and weather conditions paid off when we actually got there. It's an experience for lifetime. So serene and beautiful that no words can describe it. So much peace of mind and tranquillity that one can get hypnotised. Though high altitude is an issue, proper precautions would do the job. Stayed here for 2... More

I visited Gurudongmar lake last year during months of May.I don't have word to explain the beauty of the journey and the destination. Its simply a God's own creation that gives human a heavenly pleasure just by visiting it once. It s not recommended for children under 10 or old above 55 years or those who have some kind of breathing... More

It is considered as one of the sacred lakes of the State both by the Buddhist and the Hindus. The lake remains milky in colour throughout the year and it is believed that Guru Padmasambhava blessed it while returning from Tibet.A portion of lake does not freeze in extreme winter.

We Have visited this place about two years ago. This high altitude lake is about 3 to 5 hour journey. We have started around 4'O clock in the morning and reached Gurudonmar around 9'O clock. The road condition is not good. An experienced driver is necessary. It is also recommended to reach Gurudongmer around 9 and leave the place around... More

We were there in the first week of November. We stayed in Lachen for a night only to wake up at 2 am and to leave at 3 am. The road to The lake is in very bad shape but mostly all cars going there leave Lachen around the same time and every one help each other. One needs proper... More

The lake is at a altitude of 18500 ft. It is so beautiful, a true nature's blessings. by reaching there it feels, that we have reached at the top of the earth. The sky is blue.. But oxygen is very less here. so one should go there with proper doctor's advice or proper precautions..
