Although I believe the lake is probably breathtaking and absolutely worth the journey, nothing mentioned that foreigners are not allowed to visit. We found that out once we got to Gangtok and were very disappointed. This review is to help inform foreigners... More

at 17000 feet it is the only cold desert in east india--- and the clear unfrozen waters beckon you---reaching this place is tough --u need to start at 4am from thangu and drive nonstop in a 4x4 jeep ---roads are very very tough and those who have fear of heights and vertigo better avoid--- its a place not for weak... I had visited this place sometime in 2009 Dec.. One of the best places to visit for your holiday.. The experience was for my lifetime.. The leading roads are one of the best plain lands to travel.. Gurudongmar lake in itself is a great place to see.. Only one place in the middle of the lake is liquid and the... More

If thought of visiting Heaven in your lifetime, its here..... The Jewel among the lakes. You have to start at 3.0am early morning from Lachen, the base town in North Sikkim. it takes @ 4 hours to reach there, and on the way the snow clad mountains are breathtaking, & as we visiting in Nov, it had started to convert... Gurudongmar is a hidden jewel in Sikkim - a holy site for Buddhists and Sikhs and a marvel for everyone who visits. You will have to stay in Lachen town, vehicles to Lachen can be booked from Gangtok. Lachen is a small town with limited stay options so don't expect 5 star accommodation here. The drive from Gangtok to Lachen... More

Got up at 03am to start the journey from Lachen. The 60kms road journey takes you 4 hrs to reach the lake. Morning you might curse why did you wake up so early to see the lake.. The lake must be seen first when the early morning light kisses the frozen water. You shall hear the sound of frozen ice... More
