Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s a wonderful location to see the Taj Mahal. But despite having a valid ticket till 6 pm those running the show will throw you out about 40 minutes before so that you have to pay much more another locally run entry point nearby. This is A new racket here. No such restriction used to be placed before.

They charge INR300 for a garden full of trash and a view of the barbed wire between the garden and the actual Taj viewing place which is located down the street and costs only INR200. If you came looking for the Taj Viewpoint this is not the place.

They're charging 12 times more than they charge locals and will tell you that is the Viewpoint. Just keep walking down the street and you'll see another ticket office where you can buy those 200 ones.

Not worth it!

We paid 300 rp to get inside the park at 6pm because it said they closed at sunset. At 7pm they were kicking us out, while the sun was basically still shinning because, apparently, during the rain season they close earlier (something they conveniently forget to tell you when you buy your tickets). Not only were they rude about it, but we later found out there’s another (cheaper) path, with comfortable benches that closes at 9pm. There’s nothing else in the park worth seeing, so I strongly recommend going to this other place instead (it is called TAJ VIEW POINT, ADA) and skipping the park altogether.

The park itself was absolutely not worth visiting. The gardens are neither beautiful nor well maintained. There is a little wall near the riverbanks where people can sit and watch the sunset. However, the park closes at sunset which means, that the security asks you to leave already during dusk. There is also an entrance fee. In the end we realized, that there was even a public viewpoint with benches even closer to the river and right in front of the wall. You can find it, if you are staying in front of the entrance (facing it) and going along the park on the right side towards the river. You can find the path on Google Maps or Maps.me.

It’s open until 7 and a ticket for an Indian is Rs. 50. Mehtab bagh closes at 5:30pm.

This is by far the most convenient place to take sunset pics of the Taj without people in your viewfinder.

It’s across the river, chirping birds, pleasant breeze and the Taj in all its glory in front of you.

Right across the Yamuna from the Taj Mahal is Mehtab Bagh, one of the forty-four important riverfront gardens that once lined the Yamuna (nearly all of these, barring a handful, are long gone now). Mehtab Bagh is being rejuvenated and revived under a programme between the World Monuments Fund and the Archaeological Survey of India, with proper paths, fruit trees, etc (which was how Mughal gardens were planned).

Parking for Mehtab Bagh and the Taj View Point is about 700 metres before the View Point. Battery-operated shuttle services (charging Rs 20 per adult) run between the parking and the View Point. You need to pay Rs 50 per adult (Indian; children below twelve go free) to go through to the View Point, which is beside the Yamuna. Come here at dusk for the best views. This is also a great place to see birds - we saw lots of rosy starlings, purple herons, and painted stork here.

This park on the bank of Yamuna facing the Taj Mahal is a great place to get full view of Taj Mahal and it’s adjoining Jama Masjid and Royal guest house. Park has a view point , a bench for sitting and getting a picture of Tajmahal in back drop. River Yamuna separates the two places and it’s best to visit this place in evening to get sunset pictures. Park entry fee is 25 ₹ only

Mehtab bagh has a distinctive aura of its own, as it is away from the hustle bustle and noise of the city and the main Taj. The view was amazing and very clear. Maintenance needs to be looked into as I feel they can make it better than what it is now. Since it comes under the Agra municipality and not the Taj administration, it seems a bit neglected, but still one can enjoy complete solitude and excellent views of the Taj without the usual hundreds of milling crowds blocking that perfect pic of you and your loved ones. Do visit early morning to enjoy a peaceful experience.

If you want the best photo of the Taj Mahal, DO NOT pay 300 Rp per person to visit Mehtab Bagh Gardens. The gardens are poor quality, and the Taj views are obstructed by barb wire fences and a wall.
When you arrive at the gardens entrance, follow the signs down the cobblestone path toward the riverbank to the TAJ VIEWPOINT ADA (Agra Development Association). Taj Viewpoint is on the Yamuna riverbank diectly IN FRONT OF the Mehtabh Bagh gardens and offers a much better view for just 50 Rp per person! A better experience for a much cheaper price than the Gardens.
There are lockers at the Viewpoint gate if you need them.

Mehtab Bagh is realy good specially either in early morning and evening. Taj Selfie point is also near by [This is maintained by UP Government]. But parking to this place is not well mainitaned. even fater paying Rs 100 for car parking, you have to either walk for ~1km or shell out another 100Rs for local autos. Where as locals, Government Vehicles can go close to both Mehtab Bagh and Taj Selfie point.
