VaranasiWalks is the oldest experience oriented eco-friendly walking tour...

VaranasiWalks is the oldest experience oriented eco-friendly walking tour and boat journey collective in Varanasi.

Since 2008 our Explorers have given an intimate look at the holy city of Varanasi and are able to show you places in the city that the average tourist could never find.

Our walks cater to those who want to see the layered interiors of the city and avoid the static silk shopping game. The boatrides include short walks and detailed history along with immersed experiences!

As a collective of residents of the city we are flexible and open to working with you to create a experience you will never forget.

VaranasiWalks was started by Jai while he was running a successful Hindu Studies & Hindi Language university program and working in the Social Service sector. Jai has been giving walks in Varanasi since 2004.

Used to live in Varanasi, this was worth it!

I lived in Varanasi for 2 years on a Fulbright grant. I recently returned with my wife on vacation, and took a walk with Jay. It was awesome! I thought I knew Varanasi well, but... read more

I lived in Varanasi for 2 years on a Fulbright grant. I recently returned with my wife on vacation, and took a walk with Jay. It was awesome! I thought I knew Varanasi well, but the few hours I spent on this tour taught me a lot about the city. Jay is a great storyteller, and the pace of the... More

We recently had a private boat trip and walk with our guide Laotse at sunrise. The guided walk was simply out of this world (or the world I am used to anyhow). Laotse knew the best places to position yourself for amazing photographs and took us to a great variety of different places along the Ganges. He was extremely knowledgeable;... More

I arrived in Varanasi in a bit of a panicky state, a few days earlier, I took a fall in Jaipur, fractured a thumb, chipped a tooth and wrecked a camera. Then the ban on Rs1000/500 notes came into effect and I was nearly penniless. Luckily my hotel took debit card but I was still left completely short for a... More

Opted for the Pilgrims walk (walk two). Varanasi Walks is very flexible and allowed us to choose the start time of the walk, which is circa three hours long. Our guide Amrid was extremely knowledgeable and explained in great detail aspects of the Hindu religion. Amrid took us to lesser known temples in Varanasi. Time well spent in Varanasi!

Spent 3 days in Varanasi staying at Taj Nadesar Palace - they are top notch, and arrange a top-notch guide for me, Mr. Devesh Agerwal - I spent about two weeks in India and must have had at least 6 tour guides, and Devesh was superior to any of them - his English is perfect, he talks clearly and slowly... We very rarely use guides much preferring to find our own way around places and did not use one anywhere else in India. However we felt that Varanasi might need some navigation and interpretation and we chose two tours from Varanasi walks; the early morning boat tour and the "Hidden Alleys and Norhern Bazaars tour" Both tours were excellent but... Arrived in Varanasi after two years of living in Delhi.....Jai was recommended to us by a friend. His knowledge of history, gained through his years of living in the city and getting known locally, is deep....tempered also with his knowledge of cultural, architectural and spiritual information and off-the-beaten-track spots in the backstreets and alleyways of Varanasi. Absolutely fascinating to get... More

After travelling for 3 weeks in India, we arrived to Varanasi and decided to follow lonely planet and tripadvisor. First, our guide called to reschedule 1 hour and half after. His name is Nomi Tripathi. The tour itself is not exceptional, not interesting, no special or hided gems as they mentioned and finally overcharged price 1600 rps per person. He... More

I spent some time inquiring into this with my staff you met, the guide and the hotel. Its strange that you suggest the guide was not on time, the tour was uninteresting and said the guide kept looking at his watch the whole time. I can agree he took 2 calls on the 3hr tour. I learned that you set... More
