In planning our trip to India, I definitely wanted to "experience" the Ganges River. A trip to Varanasi was one of the two highlights of our trip. We went late afternoon out to the river and it quickly became dusk at the time we were boarding our boat. I loved everything experiencing the ritual at the cremation sites and then... More

It was very good and clean took a dip. Ganga Arti was a treat to eyes. Ghats were neat and clean every ghat has got its own history. I took a tour of all ghats on a boat.

The Ganges is the heart of this city! Such an amazing story if you manage to get to it get a boat and ask the driver all the questions you can think of. We found out so much stuff from our driver about the sacred river, and the rules on cremation. It was ver interesting and we found out things... More

We took an early morning boat ride up and down the Ganges. We saw the sun come up over the Ganges. This was a mesmerizing experience for us and highly recommended if you are in Varanasi.

From the funeral pyres to the evening Aarti ceremony, Varanasi was our best experience in India. Walking the streets down to the Ganges reveals how the chaos that can be India works quite well. Taking a slow boat ride at sunrise reveals the Ganges as mystical river shrouded in the morning mix of smoke and mist gave it an unearthly... More

River is amazingly clean for its reputed pollution, but not really if you consider real-clean. But who cares! Ganga is Ganga, for ever remains so.

Strolling down the Ganges on a boat around sun rise makes you feel so good. One can see the innumerable Ghats on the bank of Ganges. Each and every Ghat has history with it.

What a very fascinating river this is. There is so much activity along the embankment with all the ghats. This is a very holy place and all Hindus should travel to bathe in the Ganges at least once in their life. There are people bathing, dhobi wallah doing washing, many people just being and there are also the early morning... More
