We took the tuktuk ride down the street from our tour bus. That was an experience! Be sure to wear a mask, and if you wear glasses put them on. Have your camera ready. We then got off and walked to the Dasaswamedh Ghat. The sites, smells, sounds, masses of humanity are insane! E walked all around, always felt safe... More

In stark contrast to the dirty and poverty, Dasaswamedh Ghat offers a remarkable colorful and entertaining insight to the Varanasi culture during its better days past. This particular Ghat is kept relatively cleaner than the others and is easily accessible. It is close to the fruit market and located at the end of... More

The ghat itself is pretty clean, taking the other Indian religious places in consideration. We also went for boating in the afternoon and toured around 40-42ghats. Because the weather was... More

We went by a private motor boat and ended up paying 200 rupees per head. It takes about 20 minutes one way.

The Aarti Ceremony is a religious one, important to Hindus. Another reviewer harkened this to a Bollywood attraction, and if you view it that way, you'll miss the significance of this ancient ceremony. This particular Aarti can be viewed from a boat on the Ganges which offers a different perspective than other ceremonies we attended. Vendors hop from boat to... More

We had hired a boat to see all the ghats & also the evening ganga arti. Its a spellbinding and mesmerizing experience when the air is filled with holy chants, sounds of ringing bells & fragrance from the holy incense. Truely a must visit during the evening time.
