Notwithstanding the jewellery, the building is worth a visit in itself. The ornate but spectacular decorative exterior is an extraordinary feat of engineering and sculpture. As expected the interior is full of well executed jewellery but the best part is the museum, which houses examples of Balinese sculpture and semi precious stones in their natural state.

I don’t think our driver really knew what this was when he took us. The jewellery itself I didn’t think was anything too amazing and you felt shop assistants constantly watching you. However the highlight really was the outside of the building and the wonderful and funny sculptures. If nothing else it’s fun to stop for some photos.

The shop and museum are worth the visit. Those silver dragons are unbelievable and the detail on the keris is magnificent. Watching the workers make silver jewelry is very special. Prices in the shop are high but the choice is unbelievable.

From start to finish this place exceeded my expectations. On arrival you’re almost overwhelmed by a grand collection of sculptures at the entrance. They are cleverly curated, quirky and made with great skill and a playful sense of humour. From giant nymphs, pigs on bikes, and life sized frogs. No connection to the jewellery but does put a smile on your face. Inside there is such a vast selection of beautifully crafted jewellery, silver on the ground floor, gold upstairs and cocktails and food on the 3rd floor. We didn’t visit the factory area, or the 3rd floor. I think you might need a solid half day to see everything! Regardless of your personal taste in jewellery there is something for everyone at every price range. It helped that I had a photo of what I wanted so my personal assistant was able to direct me to those particular items. They are not even slightly pushy, just great customer service one on one. As you walk through the vast selection you can try on pieces, and if you like them, your assistant will carry them in a basket tray so it’s easy to shortlist and make your final selections. The items I purchased I’ve seen in Australia and in various quality jewellery shops in Bali. Those resellers shop here in bulk and on sell them. I love my 2 rings my husband bought me. Seriously don’t miss this experience but do have some ideas in mind or you will be in a head spin at the magnitude of choice.
