Cooking and fun all in one
Make your own Balinese meal Puspa, who created this cooking class along with her husband is very entertaining. There were eleven in our group and then several Ausi guys who took this class. First you do the prep cutting up all the fresh ingredients. Then the prep table magically turns into a cooking station. We did everything with great supervision by Puspa and her friendly, patient staff. Everything was delicious, especially the satay. We left with happy bellies and instructions for recreating the dishes which we made.

    Lots of fun!
This class is lots of fun. They run a well oiled machine and clearly have experience in handling groups. It’s not a small class which would be the only thing I’d change but it was fun, we made several dishes and got to have feast at the end. Approved!

Excellent activity I would recommend to all.
So well organized! Beautiful location, interesting market visit. Recipes were many and very well explained. A class of 12 people worked together efficiently and seamlessly. The result was delicious and easy to replicate. No suggestions to improve…everything was perfect!

A Wonderful Time and Amazing Meal!
What a great excursion! The entire staff was very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The entire event was fun and we learned a lot about traditional Balinese cooking. The class starts with a refreshing welcome drink the courtyard followed by a tour of the families temple and a brief explanation of the layout of the home. Then you’re whisked into the kitchen where you spend several hours learning about and preparing some amazing food. The. Everyone sits down for a giant lunch together enjoying the foods you prepared as a group. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to spend a day learning something new. The food alone is well worth the price!

    Fabulous Cooking Class in Ubud!
Awesome experience with Puspa and her wonderful staff. This was my fourth visit to Paon Bali Cooking Class in Ubud and the high standard has been maintained through all my visits. This is a hands-on experience that is so worthwhile, not to mention heaps of fun. The food was absolutely delicious and I will definitely go back. I have done both the morning and afternoon sessions and they are very similar apart from visiting the markets during the morning session. We were picked up and dropped back to our villa as part of the cost. This is a great value experience and the food is divine. Top marks to the team at Paon.

Fun market tour and cooking class
We really enjoyed the market tour, our guide explained everything very well, we tried (and bought) food not only for the class ahead but for ourselves as well, and he was great in recommending what to buy. The class was engaging and fun, and the kids and we had a great time. Very hands on, we definitely prepared all the ingredients and cooked. We would definitely recommend this to others.

    Authentic Cultural Experience
We enjoyed a memorable afternoon at Paon Bali Cooking Class, beginning with the exceptionally beautiful setting in which we found ourselves. The class takes place in the owner’s home that includes a stunning family temple. The outdoor kitchen area is large and welcoming, and the class itself is informative, engaging, and allows many “hands on” opportunities, including grinding ingredients in the traditional manner. We have been fortunate to take part in a number of cooking classes during our travels. Paon Bali Cooking Class ranks #1. It offers an authentic, complete, and memorable cultural experience.

    Great Experience. A Must Do
We were picked up at 2.15 and arrived promptly at 3pm. We were joined by 10 other people all of varying nationalities, which made for an enjoyable dining experience. My wife and I had such an fun experience learning and cooking some authentic dishes. Our host Puspa was so energetic and fun to cook with, she made it very simple to follow. We were provided with a recipe book on exit and we are both looking forward to trying the dishes at home. If you're looking for a cooking class, this is the one you need to book!

We had a great time with this cooking class. We enjoyed the market tour, and especially enjoyed the class and the classroom. My wife and I were fortunate to arrive at the class venue a little ahead of the others, and we were invited to visit the family temple at the front of the building. Everything is done here with such love and reverence, we were pleased simply to be there.
They ran the cooking class itself in such a way that everybody got to participate, rotating duties and sharing everything. It built a joyous group, so we also enjoyed sitting down to eat at the communal tables.
If you like cooking, this will not disappoint.

My friends and I booked last minute to experience Paon cooking class. Communication was prompt and efficient. The start of our wonderful experience started with Made at the markets, who was warm, welcoming and knowledgable. When we arrived at Wayan and Puspa's lovely home, we were immediately made to feel like part of the family.

Unfortunately, I started to feel quite faint and ill moments prior to the cooking aspect of tour, and could not cook. Puspa and the Paon team quickly made up a bed in a private room for me while my friends were still able to enjoy the cooking class. A few hours later, I revisited the kitchen to have the Paon team gift me with the Balinese food that they had made. It was extremely thoughtful and I was blown away with their generosity. The food was incredible! However, you do not just pay for the food - you get the kindness and amazing experience of meeting Wayan and Puspa.

Thank you so much for having us!

I have been to 3 other cooking classes in Ubud and this is outstandingly the best. The visit to the market was great with our guide explaining all the foods and spices. It was so well organised with many helpers who were all friendly, knowledgeable and even catered specifically for any dietary needs such as gluten free. The food was magnificent and the tastiest yet in Bali. If there is one thing you need to do in Bali, this is it. You will never regret it.

Wow! What an experience! Paon Bali Cooking Class is an amazing experience when visiting Bali. We were visiting the island for our honeymoon and wanted to learn more about Balinese culture and people. This classes did that and more. You start the day visiting the local markert, where you learn about how the Balinese people shop and what is important to them in the kitchen. We had the chance to taste local fruits that were described to us before tasting. From the market, we went to the class and we visited rice fields on our way. The class was in the Balinese typical home compound. There were around 25 people in our cooking class. Our host was amazing and hilarious! Everyone got a chance to prep and cook food. There were over 5 people in the kitchen, helping with everything we did. We made a total of 6 dishes, all traditional Balinese food, from scratch! The food was sooooo delicious, we coudn't believe we had made it all. At the end, we received a cookbook with all the recipies to try at home!! Highly recommended experience. This is a fun and affordable way to get to know Balinese culture and people.

My teenage daughter and I did this class together and had a fabulous time!! I would highly recommend for individuals, families or groups looking to experience an authentic cultural experience and cooking class in Bali. Starting with the market tour in the morning and ending at Puspa and Wayan's beautiful home, the entire day was filled with sights, sounds and tastes that were such a treat to all the senses. We all got practice with slicing, dicing, grinding and frying, but the best part was how much love and fun goes into the program (and how absolutely delicious the food is!!)

Everything about this cooking class is amazing!! Wayan and Puspa welcomes us into their loving home and into their kitchen. Very well payed out and organised. You do get to join in an be hands on along the way. Without having to worry about peeling, mincing or washing up!!! Explanations of recipes, fluency in English and attention to detail was sensational. The morning flowed so smoothly and it was so great to get to know fellow classmates from all across the world.
Food was fresh and sensational flavours. Superb.

This was one of our best experiences during our trip in Bali. With a small group of 8 people we cooked a lot of different traditional dishes. The teacher explained everything very well and clear. She also knows how to entertain the people which creates a very comfortable and cozy setting. If you want to escape the sun and beaches, this is a very good and nice alternative!

Firstly, the class is so well orchestrated. As you are working on something g with Pupsa, her team moves other items in the background so they are ready for us as soon as we need them. It’s like a well choreographed dance.

You start by seeing all the ingredients that need prepping right in front at the beginning, all beautifully presented. Pupsa assigns us different tasks (cutting, grinding, etc).

We make 2 sauces that will be used across the whole menu: a peanut sauce and a yellow curry sauce (Base Gede Bumbu Kuning). We then start preparing the seven dishes, which includes one salad and a desert. Pupsa adapts the amount of chilis (given the mostly North American audience) and also helps one member of our group ensure that her version of her meal is gluten-free! We are all participating in all the cooking activities, whether they are stir frying, steaming, blending, mixing, presenting etc. Pupsa also recommends substitutions for items more difficult to find in some part of our countries.

And after all of that, each dish we are served are delicious.

This all happens outside, in a housing complex specially fit for this purpose. A beautiful property and gardens surround us. Even though the temperature is in the mid 80s F, there is a nice breeze and ceiling fans also provide relief.

I totally recommend this experience; you will learn a lot about Bali cuisine and thoroughly enjoy yourself in the process. Your tastebuds will also thank you!

This was such a fun experience. Our cooking teacher had a vibrant and fun personality which just added to the experience as a whole. It is about $30AUD/ person, which is worth it, as you use locally sourced, quality ingredients, and get to cook approximately 6 balinese dishes and then you get to eat the dishes at the end, as well as a delicious Balinese dessert with tea or Balinese coffee. I would highly recommend this experience regardless of your cooking skills as she talks you through all the ingredients and techniques and guides you throughout the experience.

Aunty Puspa is truly amazing… You enter her home and you feel like you’re in Real Housewives of Bali. The house in itself is magnificent and the. There’s the outdoor kitchen space which accommodates the group nicely with all the different cooking stations.

We learnt a number of dishes when we went and had a feast for lunch.

Upon my return I wanted to put my skills to the test and I can honestly say it turned out fab.

Really enjoy the class and the end result is delicious.

I’ve attached pics of the yellow curry I made at home. Definitely go, if it’s possible.
