I was looking forward to see this show and haven't been disappointed at all! You just have to read the ticket and the story is easy to understand as it's very well played. The "Kecak singers" are amazing and transporting you! Not boring at all like some people said if you're interested and open to discover another culture. The fire... More

I have to say, during my research about which dances to watch while staying in Ubud, I completely missed the fact that the kecak fire dance involves building a giant bonfire out of a pile of coconut husks and then someone kicking the husks all over the floor in his bare feet. It was thrilling! And possibly dangerous. I was... More

This was a really great traditional story, as I have said in the title read what it is about or you might be a bit bored! !!!!!!!!!!Thoroughly enjoyed apart from the inconsiderate A-holes in the audience trying to give everyone migraines and epileptic fits with their flash photography.!!!!!!!!! Maybe enjoy the show, watch and try to understand it rather then... More

Yes, it is different than a theater we're used to and the squad must have practiced it a lot. The whole show is quite repetitive - men chanting and one-to-four people dancing (the dance is not really sophisticated). There is a story in a background, but it is just a matter of performer's outfit.

It was a large group of dancers, with a story that was 'told' in movement and dance, the main characters supported by the group of men symbolizing a lot of different things, like the sea. I personally thought it was beautiful. Some of our group felt it went too slow, and couldn't appreciate the meaning of the dance and the... More

It as an interesting show. The tickets were available at the venue. for a 7:30PM show, we went at 5 PM and got our tickets and when we arrived at 7PM, it was quite full. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. The show takes places at this temple and it is lit with lamps "diyas" and we... More

Visit to Bali will not be complete without having Kecak dance w magnificent cliff top stage at Uluwatu. It performed by a circle of 30-50 performers wearing checked cloth around their waists, there isn't any music instrument but performers percussively chanting "cak" and moving their hands and arms. Just ensure you read the story before hands which you will enjoy the... More

Walking around the Palace, ticket sellers are ubiquitous -- though, I have to say, not overly pushy unlike hawkers in other tourist drags in other countries. If you decline, they are polite about it. There's a traditional dance performance somewhere in central Ubud every night, and after hearing and peeking into a few over the week, we decided to see... More

The Kecak Fire & Trance Dance at Pura Dalem Taman Kaja on Jl Sriwedari in Ubud is a performance of traditional dance and music telling the story of a snippet from the Ramayana. Tickets can be picked up from legitimate touts around town. The temple setting is an excellent outdoor location. It has an atmosphere of its own despite the... More

This is a very nice show with a mixture of different dances. We've visited it in Ubud and it was 90% lighted by candles and the fire in the middle. It's not comparable to european theater etc and it might be hard to follow the story in the beginning but you get a paper with the story (available in different... More
