- zg6450 contributionsFun outingDid the Balinese cooking class during a trip with 17 ladies. The staff was amazing in instructing us while making it fun. We made a 6 course meal that was delicious. We were able to tailor our meal to different dietary needs: food allergies, pescatarian, vegetarian. I’d highly recommend.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 October 2023

Spacious cooking area, hygienic process, quick set up and food prep. I would recommend this class for any cooking level. You’re friends and family back home will love coming for dinner. Best of all the food tasted amazing!!Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 October 2023
- Jodie C2 contributionsA wonderful experienceWhat an outstanding experience for myself and my two sons aged 8 and 10. A highly organised set up, kind and engaging staff and a beautiful setting! Not to mention the recipes and food. Yum. The boys were given so much opportunity to do everything despite their age but help was always on hand if needed. Highly recommend to anyone in UbudVisited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 October 2023
- LoughlinChowLondon, United Kingdom11 contributionsWonderful Balinese cooking classThis was an excellent cooking class (and I’ve attended quite a few in different countries!) — individual attention from very friendly and knowledgable chefs, family business, small class size (max 10), accessible recipes, and an excellent variety of dishes (satay w peanut sauce, Balinese chicken curry, grilled marinaded fish in banana leaf, Balinese fried noodle, and braised banana/plantain in palm sugar sauce). We had an excellent start in the market, and especially at the spice stall!! We were taught to use traditional techniques to make the curry paste and peanut sauce w mortar-and-pestle, and grilled our fish in banana leaves over coconut charcoal. A wonderful experience with friendly, helpful cooks. Well worth the early(ish) start. Highly highly recommend.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2023

Ketut is very funny and friendly, we also chose to do the morning market tour with Made where we learnt more about culture and the food. Ketut’s wife and team are really helpful and efficient, and you get the recipe at the endVisited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 November 2023

Ketut and his wife were welcoming and professional as was the rest of the family and staff. It’s well worth the money you get picked up from your accommodation learn to cook traditional Balinese food then at the end we sit and eat our creations.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 November 2023

Every time we SMASH our lemongrass & garlic we think of him. And do the morning tour so you get to go to the market. The incredible mouth-watering food we stuffed ourselves with at the end of the class was a treat. Just book. You won’t regret it!Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 November 2023

If you really want a fun and great experience, book a cooking class with Ketut! We started in the morning where we were picked up at our hotel. Ketut was there personally and welcomed us. We first went to the food market where he explained various food, how they taste and were it is used for. Afterwards we drove to the cooking class location and prepared various delicious dishes. Ketut and his wife were really friendly and Ketut is very energetic and always laughs. This made the course very enjoyable. Would recommend this to anyone!

This is a fantastic activity when on Bali. From the driver and staff to Made the chef, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The visit to morning market is interesting and fun and worth getting up a bit early for. The setting for the cooking school is beautiful and the cooking stations are well equipped. Made's instructions were so accessible and his positive attitude was contagious. We were active and engaged in all the prep and cooking and I will be able to repeat the recipes when I return home. I wholeheartedly recommend Ketut's Bali Cooking Class and would sign up for it again on a return trip to Bali.

Started the day early with an interesting market visit where we got to taste and smell different Balinese herbs and spices. Host was very friendly and engaging. Followed by a short drive to the countryside where Ketut’s cooking class was held. Nice and clean, everything was well prepared and organised. Ketut was very engaging throughout and made the whole experience so fun and enjoyable. Loved being able to have a go at the charcoal bbq too, an experience to remember! Highly recommend!

Absolutely Recommendation this experience!!!
The morning lesson includes hotel pick-up and a visit to the Point of Sale (we were accompanied by the chef's wife)
They welcome you with a welcome drink and provide a bottle of water per person. Clean place, very kind staff and very helpful.
The cooking class is held in English but is easily understood even by those with an elementary knowledge of the language.
The chef, Ketut, is really nice and makes cooking class fun and carefree.
At the end of the lesson everyone eats what they have cooked (5 courses, including dessert).

Our morning cooking experience with Katut was just wonderful from the pick up, to the market visit to the 3 hour preparation, cooking and eating.
Organisation made the cooking easy and Katut kept a close eye on us and made adaptations for gluten free husband.
We cooked 5 courses and the food was delicious.
So many laughs and so much learnt.

We had the best time at Ketut cooking class, the chef is a rock star, very funny and smiling, he brings a wonderful energy to the class. In the morning, the market is a great start to learn more about the ingredients and the recipe we cook are very good, suit all likes and should be easy to reproduce at home! I highly recommend :)
A tip for everyone: lunch I served early (11:30) and it’s quite huge so have a light breakfast before coming !
Advice: it would be great to plan credit card machine

This cooking class is a must if you are staying near Ubud! They made cooking easy, cleaned up after us, and were extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients. They also picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off afterwards. We will remember this experience for a long time!

Ketut’s cooking class was great fun and very informative. We loved going to the market and tasty different foods and then going back to Ketut’s home to cook some wonderful dishes with the help of himself and his family. The food was delicious! We would definitely recommend his cooking class to anyone that wants to learn and have fun doing so! Thanks Ketut 😀

One of the great things about Ketut's Cooking Class is that it is a very hands-on experience. Participants get to chop vegetables, mix spices, and cook the dishes themselves under the team's guidance. This makes for a very interactive and fun learning experience.
My 10 years old son was the only Indonesian boy in a class full of adult foreigners, but this didn't seem to be an issue. Ketut and the team create a welcoming and inclusive environment that makes everyone feel comfortable and included.

Do not bother going to a restaurant , paying double & just eating.
Instead everyone in bali MUST go to this activity.
This is bali’s best cooking class.
The chef’s passion and enthusiasm was incredible, oh and you can only imagine what the food will taste like…
Enjoy!

Hi! Is it possible to ask pick-up at the hotel in ubud and drop off to kuta?
Written 19 July 2019
If you can find a driver in Bali you like. Give them the pamphlet of the tour you would like to go to and get them to negotiate a price that includes them transporting. We have saved about 500,000 rupiah each tour this way.

Can u please tell me what dishes they teach
Written 8 July 2019
A lot! - Don't have breakfast. The menus are on their website - vegetarian option available & they do give you a print out of the recipes to take home: Chicken with a sate sauce, sambal ulek, chicken soup, tuna in banana leaf & mie goreng. It's great

Hi. Can you pay for this cooking class with credit cards? If so, which ones? Thanks.
Written 10 August 2018
No you can’t pay with card, but you can ask the driver to stop at an ATM after they drive you back to your hotel. That’s how I did it. It was totally fine with them.

Hello!
First, I am sorry for the Lombok earthquake.
I will be staying at "Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport" from the 26th to the 27th of August.
And we will stay at the kayon resort in ubud from 27th to 28th of August.
In this case, can you pick up at the novotel hotel on the morning of the 27th and drop off at the kayon resort after the cooking class is over?
If I can do that, I would like to book 2 people in the morning class on the 27th.
Please reply.
