- Bakiye L1 contributionThe best teacher so farI have taken Tai Chi and Qigong classes from many teachers, Dave comes out the most outstanding teacher so far. Why, you would ask me. Well, he is very detailed teacher, slow and clear and patient. He corrects his students gently if needed. As a class, we went to amazing spots in Munduk, Bali to get clean air and amazing energy of nature into our cells in our bodies. My breathing was shallower in the beginning but at the end of three weeks of training, my breath became slower and calmer. Well, now I will do my homework as Dave asked us to practice what we learned for at least 30 minutes a day to stay healthy and happy. You will enjoy every minute of Dave's program, I know it from my heart. Enjoy it, and keep learning and having fun with your qi in his classes.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 October 2023
- Frankie SSiem Reap, Cambodia2 contributionsTai Chi in ParadiseI have just spent three weeks on the foundation course for teacher training wth Dave West of Tai Chi Bali. I was delighted with the high standard of teaching and the scientific explanations and the Tao philosophy. I am 71 and had only had a few Tai Chi lessons before coming on the course. I was worried that five hours of Tai Chi a day might be too much, but in fact, the time passed really quickly and I only felt refreshed rather than tired after the classes. I thoroughly recommend this course, especially as it is interspersed with wonderful walks to stunning waterfalls. The course takes place in the beautiful mountains of Munduk, which really is a paradise.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 31 October 2023
- ivana c2 contributionsTai Chi and Qi Gong instructor level one 200hDave has been my teacher for the past four years. We started with Tai Chi and Qi Gong teacher training in the beautiful Munduk in 2020, but unfortunately, the Corona situation hindered us from completing it. I returned after four years to finish my first level of teaching, and this time, we were located at Balian Beach, which also suited me well. I want to emphasize that Dave is an excellent teacher, one of the best. His methods and teaching style are full of experience and effective. What impresses me the most about Dave is his dedication to imparting his knowledge, which is truly vast. His teaching technique is excellent as he delves into the minor details and corrects them to ensure everything is learned correctly. I want to thank Dave for everything he has taught me, and I hope to see him in Malta this year so we can train together :). For anyone who wants to learn Tai Chi and Qi Gong, I sincerely recommend Tai Chi Bali and Master Dave because it is worth every penny invested. You will gain a lifelong experience to help you maintain your health.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 10 February 2024

I did the 200 hours teacher training with Dave. And it was awesome. Dave is one of the best teachers I had period. You can feel the passion and the knowledge he has for teaching and tai chi. The course is really good structured and contains all the basics you need to be a teacher. I not just learned tai chi but also about the philosophy and how to apply it in my life. I understand now how body and mind works together. I can highly recommend a course with Dave for everyone that is interested in tai chi and qigong and is serious about his training.

This workshop was not what I expected. I thought I would be following along for 5 days, just enjoying a peaceful experience in Bali’s gorgeous nature but what I got was so much more. It was a challenging and rewarding experience as I learned some of the fundamentals of this ancient practice. Tai chi is a real discipline and though the moves look effortless, each breath and move consists of many different inner tasks. Not what I previously experienced at all.

The retreat was in Munduk and I stayed in the mountains in “cloud 9”. The views are breathtaking and we visited beautiful waterfalls. A highlight was trekking through the forest, up many stairs to do some Qi Gong at a temple and then we were taken across the lake by canoe. Dave taught us the fundamentals of Qi gong and Thai Chi in the mornings and afternoons in a beautiful setting and we had plenty of downtime as well.

On a recent trip to Bali I decided to try Tai Chi. I signed up for a couple of lessons with Dave and was amazed by his knowledge of the subject, his attention to detail and his incredible patience (which he really needed with me !!).
I believe I am hooked now and can't wait for my next trip to Bali and maybe try out the Tai Chi Bali Mountain Retreat. Great work Dave... keep it up!

For a long time I have wanted to visit Bali and decided to join the Thi Chi Bali Mountain Retreat. I had a truly wonderful and magical time. Not only is Dave West is a very gifted Thi Chi teacher but he also put together a thoughtful, inspiring week of leaning, adventure, relaxation and fun. He patiently taught me a set of basic Thi Chi forms which I now practice at home. In addition to gaining a lot and improving my health from doing Thi Chi, I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure of traveling along the back roads of Bali, passing though small villages, seeing a funeral parade, stoping at a hot spring, hiking though an old jungle to a temple, paddling a dug out canoe across an incredibly beautifully lake, talking with people and seeing and experiencing the magical beauty of Bali. Ii can wait to go again and highly recommend Thi Chi Bali retreats

Hi Mary, thanks for your review. You mean Tai Chi not Thi Chi. Practice everyday if you can to remember the moves you learned on the retreat. The 24 Forms is very popular and you should be able to find a Yang Style Tai Chi teacher in your home country to help you continue your training. Remember if you don't make time for exercise, then you have to make time for illness!! Best of luck. See you next year.

I am thinking about arranging a private Tai Chi experience for my wife as a birthday gift. She is taking beginning classes here and really enjoys it. What is the best time of year for travel to Bali, and can you give me an idea of what it would cost to arrange sessions over a 3 - 5 day period. Also, what would you suggest regarding hotels? Thank you very much.
