Balinese art, the fight between good and evil. Barong Dance. You can listen to local music on ancient instruments and dance performances showing the triumph of good over evil. The action is not very exciting, but Balinese art is about reflection and focusing on your own life. Interesting experience.

It is a waste of money. The dance does not flow very well and is not entertaining. You have to keep reading the pamphlet to figure out what is happening and even then it is still difficult to follow.
There are 5 acts and it is an hour long.
It is definitely not worth the money and more importantly the time.

Many years ago - in fact in 1997 we saw this kecak and fire dance. Luckily our driver could bring us here again.
This time the sitting chairs were really good, and we didn't have to move because of the fire.
The "music " comes from the voices of men. You also get paper about the history of the dance. We couldn't believe , we could get it in Danish. Very very good. I think they have papers in 20 languages.
You must really see this old dance so we still can enjoy the culture of Bali.
You get a choke when you see the man jumping/walking in the fire. This time he also lie down- totally in trance.
Our best recommendations.

"School concert gone wrong".This is about the best way to describe this dance and fire dance. One can have a good laugh at how amateurish it is. Tourist trap. There are better ways to spend your money

Cultural dance with man orchestra without musical instruments. Don't forget to read the storyline from their pamphlets before the show starts so that can enjoy more. Better to use some insect repellent as fire attracts insects. After the show, audience can take photo with the dancers, be quick if you want as they disappear quickly. If you are not interested in cultural things, then this show is not for you.

This is a very exiting and compelling show. It is not just a dance. It is full theatre production with a theme. Visitors are given a programme which explains the acts in full. A marvellous spectacle and a must for all Bali visitors who are not just there to sample Bintang.

Sunday 8th September and we visited here, it was one of the stops on our "Bali Great Introduction Tour" which we booked through the Tui Representative at our Hotel. The entrance fee was included in the price of our tour, however, the person beside me had a ticket and the price was 100,000 Rupiah, very roughly £6.

On arrival we were greated and we were shown to our seats and waited the commencement of the show at 09.30.

Thankfully we were given a pamphlet which explained what the story and legend behind the dance.

The Barong and Kris dance told the story of the fight between good and evil spirits. There was a small group of musicians to the side of the stage that provided the music for the performance.

The dance was full of drama, colourful costumes and also included some humour and at time some slapstick and lasted for one hour.

Did not think that we would enjoy this sort of entertainment, to our surprise we did enjoy it, very much.
