Sampoerna museum. As a smoker i used to smoke one of their product. Getting into this museum remind me of their great flavor on their product. The museum itself quite small, contains the history of sampoerna from the beginning. There are some memorabilia from the owner or their machinery. Some of sampoerna marching band which present in pasadena during 90's.... More

I almost skip this place on my list, but I decided to give it a go. Once we stepped in, we were at the olden day. They displayed a lot of things when the owner started their business, the factory. When we went there, the worker already finished work.

This museum owned by the biggest cigarette company in Indonesia. They have good museum with lot of information about history of cigarette making in Indonesia. They even have exhibition room where you can see the employees making kretek (the speed of employees was really stunning) but no photography allowed in this exhibition room. The museum had a free guided tour. The lady was very informative and we found out about the developmental history from the very early days through WW2 and to today. A tour guide is good to have to understand the full story of the industry...and their CSR activities.

A museum that is small in size but informative with well curated exhibits. It tells an interesting story of the founding, developing and business philosophy of the Sampeorna brand. Watching the workers hand make the cigarette was an interesting experience. The cafe has beautiful stain glass decorations and serves good value for money food and beverages.

There are not many museum in Surabaya that can offer the authenticity, excellence, and friendly atmosphere that this museum offer. Despite the museum only consist of two floor house that is very small to be called museum, they managed to offer us with a very well thought experience from the start to the end. Small things like the various 'real'... More
