Mengeruda Hot Spring, an unique hot spring with its still very natural surrounding. There is one pool where the hot spring source is located. The hot spring water flows through a river meets the pool of where the cold water flows from another river. We will always feel like we are physically and psychologically balanced whenever we bathe in.
We can reach there around 45 minutes drive from Bajawa the capital city of Ngada Regency via Bajawa - Mbay alternative St. following the Soa Airport direction.
There are some housing which designed to be homestays not far from here because it is a well-known tourist attraction. Amenities such as "warung" / "kios" which provides daily needs are available many around the entrance gate of this attraction. Other supporting infrastructure like water, electricity, and internet are easy to access.

Visited this hot spring on our way to Bajawa. More of a local picnic/relaxation place rather than a tourist attraction so be prepared for some plastic/ rubbish around the grounds.
We enjoyed the 2 different ponds and the stream as well.
Nice hot spring water to soak in.
There is toilet/ change room facilities, just not well maintained.
Other than the 2 hiccups mentioned, we enjoyed soaking in the hot ponds after travelling by road for many days.
Worth a stop if you happen to be in Soa.

Mengeruda hot springs located in the Village District Piga Soa, 25 km to the north of the city Bajawa. The water contains sulfur are believed to cure various skin diseases. Soaking in hot springs is very enjoyable, especially when the body tired from traveling. This place can be reached by motorbike, car, and public transportation.

Also know as Air Panas Soa, this was anything but a nice experience. The hot springs comprise of a main "formed" pool with hot water gushing out from underground. It is very hot, almost too hot to be enjoyable and certainly too hot to stay in for any length of time. Away from this pool there are more natural rock pools were the water is less hot and more bearable. It should have been a nice experience but frankly it wasn't. Sitting in a hot spring surrounded locals and other visitors armed with soap and shampoo and pummice stone to expholiate their skin was a reall turn off. Added to that the environs are filthy, the change rooms grimy at best and the toilets were the most disgusting I have ever come across in all my travels through SE Asia. There was obviously once an attempt to turn the hotsprings into a major attraction with several bungalows, a bridge and restaurant inside the grounds but they are now just decrepit shells. And what previous reviewers have described as garden lawns is at best overgrown, neglected and rubbish strewn. Considering the high quaility of everything else we saw in Flores, this place was a major let down and the managers of this "facility" need to have a good hard look at themselves. I doubt any of the admission fees collected are finding their way back into the facilities.

Very hot water gushes out of this large spring, created by the volcanic geothermal activity found throughout the archipeligo. Mainly local and Indonesian visitors, as foreigners have to make quite an effort to get there [due to the unthinking authorities' decision to issue 30 day visas on arrival in Bali, instead of the former 60 days]. So don't expect 3 or 4 star facilities - although there were some basic bungalows to rent. In fact, don't expect two star facilities! This is a local attraction and by local standards is not bad at all. The lush green surroundings and simplicity of the place are plus points to my way of thinking. I thought the bus rides [from Labuan Bajo to Bajawa, then local bus to Soa] took us through fantastic rainforest surroundings. If going overland from Labuan Bajo to Kelimutu, I would recommend a brief stopover here.

i rode here on my scooter from Bajawa, it was not to hard to find.
You can park right out front and don't have to walk for more than a minute.
There is a main natural pool and the water is about 39c and shallow and not deep. It then runs along and into a small water fall and mixes with cooler water from the mountain.
You can sit at the bottom of the water fall and the water massages you and is really nice.
It is a lot easier to get to than the malanage hot spring.
There is also people outside the main gate selling water and food.
I would definitely go again if I was in Bajawa.

Get your own rented motorcycle. Water and snacks available at the entrance, not inside. Ticket 14,000 + motorcycle parking fee 2,000. It's a local attraction with local facilities, don't expect pampering or pretty much anything. However, nice area with a stagnant pool, and then a short section of stream ending in a little waterfall, can find peaceful area for soaking, or natural jacuzzi at the bottom of the little waterfall where another stream enters which is not so hot (but still very warm). A big plus is the natural shade over the whole area. Not too sulfuric so no overwhelming stench. Most areas are not slippery at all so can wade around with good grip and also safe for children over 5 or so to explore by themselves. Nice colours for taking photos. Be careful with falling coconuts (for me, this is the biggest neglect from management, way too many ripe coconuts falling). If hot water is not your thing, go to Malanage instead (that one is also closer to other attractions for those on limited time, and the drive to get there is also nicer).

Took a trip to the Hot water spring lakes in Mengeruda, village of Soa, enroute to Riung while traversing the island of Flores.
The warm waters of the spring are a delight to dip and soak yourself in. Several changing rooms, neat and clean toilets alongwith the garden lawns here make it a welcome trip with family and children.
Do be careful while walking to the hot water spring pools, as the rocks do have a mossy cover and the potholes in the pool coming from the rock deposits with sharp edges, do make it a bit tricky when wading through the water.
Definitely worth a trip for a blissful retreat into peace and nature.

The hot springs have been fashioned into swimming pools which takes away from the experience a bit. Water is amazingly hot which is kinda awesome. The toilets here are absolutely appalling and bear in mind you will be the local attraction once you get in the water.
