Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Little bit hidden market for local people in West part of Matram city (West Lombok) near from old and known Pura Meru Hindu Temple. In two level concrete building full of small shops you can find all for locals, it means from food over gold to tipical indonesian Kris knife! Two levels labyrinth full of local people is very good experience from Lombok, and all are friendly!
Dont mis this place...

Wow its just like a market bizarre. Upstairs is where the lingerie, fresh fruits, vegies, fish, meat is also and a ton of different herbs and spices in baskets. Not for the faint hearted upstairs the smell may be over whelming for some but it is worth looking at to see and even show your kids how other cultures do markets. Down stairs is very full on inside with very small walk ways between the clothes. Downstairs you can buy anything from hardware items, clothes, shoes, jewelley and tons more. It is cheap in here and you can barter it is expected. It would be very hot in heree during the summer. This is where the locals come to buy there fresh food. If you ride a scooter there then you can park out the front with an attendent who keeps an eye on your bike and you can pay about 2000 for it. If you go by bluebird say you want to go to Pasar Cakra. Have fun !!!!!

This market is for locals so if you are looking for tourist stuff like in Bali (handbags, paintings, t-shirt, Nike, etc) you won't find it here. It is, however, a fantastic authentic local Lombok experience and if you are in the area it is well worth a visit. Sensory overload. It is open during the day. Quite dark but much cooler than outside. Everything from gardening tools, fruit, gold, shoes, clothes and sarongs downstairs and meat, incense, and dry foods upstairs. If you want traditional Balinese clothing (ceremonial) you can buy it right in the centre downstairs. If you need a tailor for a quick hem taken up there are people with sewing machines dotted around and they are very quick and very cheap and very skilled. Not many people speak English. Immerse yourself in the smells, sights and sounds.

We went there late, around 5pm on a weekday afternoon. 90% of the shops were closed. Just a few fruit vendors, clothes shops, and butchers. Not much else going on. Probably should have come earlier!

100% would recommend if you’re in the area as it’s close to Lombok Epicentrum Mall. Located in and around the markets are many different shops selling things including fabrics jewellery shoes clothing and food

Cakranegara Market located in Mataram city. 1hours drive from Senggigi, 2hours drive from Bangsal Harbour and 1.30 Minute from Kuta Lombok. This market is very close to Meru Temple and Mayura Temple. So after visit this market head forward to the temple. Just walk by on foot to reach both of the temple that located on east of Cakranegara market. In Cakranegara it self some buyer sell many kind of goods such as agricultural product (herbs and spices),livestock, seafood produck, precious stones, household goods, souvenirs so very complete here. You Just move on from one seller to other seller and do not forget to bargain it price. In other side this market was very Unique cause a people of Hindu, Moslem, Chines do the trade activities in same place. They live so really harmonious. only in Lombok island you will see the Multicultural of Indonesia country.

We were given the advice that if we wanted to purchase authentic Lombok handicrafts we should come here. So sorry we made the lengthy trip as there was truly nothing there of interest, unless you wanted to buy local food products or cheap imported shoes or clothing. Quite dirty and smelly on the top level and dark and claustrophobic on the bottom. Saw only a few rattan baskets.

Cakranegara Traditional Market is dominated by spices, fruit and vegetables but there are plenty people selling all sorts of handicrafts, jewellery and clothing. There are a few eateries. Prices are cheap. It was a very interesting market to wander around but many locals here speak little or no English. FELLOW TRAVELLERS BE AWARE A man called Jelani claiming to represent Anjani Tours frequents this market, other local attractions and Jalan Yudistira near Mataram Mall. He is a very dishonest character and best avoided.
