When in Tel Aviv/Yaffo, I always make sure to wonder around Jaffa and take in the sounds, smells and ambiance of this historic area. Shops and restaurants are abundant, with a variety to suit every type of shopper and eater.

At the top of the hill there was a small visitor information centre, a trailer. They sell tickets to the museum which lies directly underneath you, a treasure trove of antiquities presented in a lively and accessible multimedia display. Easy to miss so make sure...More

It's a 3km walk from Rothschild Boulevard. It's recommended that one walks down to Jaffa. The walk is experiential in terms of feeling the charm of the old world and lovely architectural buildings around. Places to see Jaffa Tower, Jaffa flea market, and Jaffa hill....More

We loved our 4 hours in Jaffa! We visited St Peter's church, Simon the Tanner's House, the port (where Jonah attempted to flee from God),and the flea market. We also enjoyed Jaffa Tales video of the history of the city. Beautiful art galleries and good...More

Interesting little town off of the Mediterranean, with a picturesque little port for fishing boats. Nicely signed for historic points of interest. Fun to walk around for a while and close to many of the nice hotels in Tel Aviv that are along the Mediterranean....More

Tel Aviv doesnot feel like being in the middle east, but take a walk through its old arabic quarter with its narrow streets and secret spots gets youthis feeling

I recomend to visit the Jaffa Clock Tower, the Saint Nicholas Monastery ,the Saint Peter's Church , the Archaeological Museum in Jaffa. A good idea is to join the free walking tour and enjoy your day in the old city.

Went with Tourist Israel. Only got to see Jaffa and not the other 3 locations we were supposed to visit because the tour company was so horrible. If you go, do not use Tourist Israel or Fun life. But spend at least 3 hours here....More

Hands down, I would recommend the Royal Beach Hotel. We found it in walking distance of everything we wanted to see. (We're New Yorkers, though, so we walk a lot.) It's close to Jaffa and the Harcamel Market (by anyone's... More

I was going to suggest the Market House too in old Jaffa looks like a very friendly relaxed but lovely hotel - right in the middle of things and fun life in Jaffa - lovely walk along the beach path into Tel Aviv.

If you keep kosher, then the only open restaurants are in the better hotels; If you do not keep kosher then there are lots of places open - in Jaffa we like 'Hazakan v'HaYam' (translates as 'Old Man and the Sea')
