Six of us walked after dinner and looked at the street sculptures. They are amazing! You can almost hear the moan of the cow and snort of the horse. Truly a tribute to western art and the early life of the cowboy and oilman Highly...More

In general, Artesia was a surprise. It is a pretty little town that benefits from the oil business wealth in quality of the downtown area. The bronze statues all over the area were really interesting and told some of the history of the Artesia area.

This exhibit tells about the people that started the oil field in the area and even has statues made of those people. The oil field platform is really interesting.

This exhibit was very interesting and educational with lots of facts and history. Great job. A great place to visit and read up on local culture. Very detailed statues and equipment mock up.

Unexpected treat. We stoped in Artesia to get off the highway, rest, and eat. The statues scattered about town got us out of the car. Made us walk awhile. Lingered longer in Artesia than we had planned. That’s good. The eyes needed a rest.

Artesia is a very nice town. The sculptures along Main St are worth the slight detour off 285. Would we recommend? Yes.

Mike Hamby also created at least one of the sculptures. They recently added a new bronze, The Foundation, which celebrates kids reading, in July. There are at least 8 different bronzes around the town center area, and some... More
