Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brilliant time in this park. Make sure you have a proper guide to take you here. It's worth listening to all the stories and relate to the book of revelations and how this location was chosen.

There are stables, altar, big silo, city gate, royal tomb etc. It is a pity we cannot see the water system due to flooding.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tel Megiddo is definitely a place to visit in Israel.
Perhaps not in the Top 10, but definitely in the Top 20 and as such it should be included in your 1st visit in Israel.

It's easy to get there as it's on your way to Nazareth, or Beth Shean, or Tveria (Tiberias) and the Galilee...In short it's on your way to everything in the North of Israel.
The site is a National Park and as such really organized, managed and explained.
Strongly recommended for you, your kids and anyone who likes History, fantastic views and here and there some mysteries.

Btw, I recommend you take the Tunnel to exit the site, it is not tiring and it is a different experience you should not miss.
I've attached some pictures to give you the feel of it.

This area is definitely worth a visit. It is a bit hilly so if you have difficulty walking, it could be an issue as there is no other way to see the area. The ruins are well marked and interesting to explore. There is a restaurant on the premises as well as vending machines for drinks. It was very hot when I was there and wish I had thought to carry a bottle of water with me as once you get away from the entrance is there are no restrooms or water fountains. There is also very little shade so sun screen and a hat would be a good idea.

This was a superb visit. We used the audio guide and it really brought the site to life.
I have just read Michener's "The Source" so this visit could not have been more approriate - especially being able to see the well tunnells.
It is well laid out. There is a gently and easy climb up to the tell.
The gift shop is good and staff very friendly.

We enjoyed the very good, though too fast, orientation movie. Despite being small, the museum is quite worthwhile. Signage is fair, as is the free brochure. The paths lead to interesting locations. The tunnel at the end of the trail is currently (November, 2024) closed due to rock caving in. This is an important historical site and important to Judo-Christian religions.

If you like historical sites this is a good stop off before visiting a place like Nazareth. Interesting sine walks remain and a small interesting water system. Not much else to see... archeological digs werein progress while we were there which added another layer of interest. Maybe spend an hour at best here.

Site of Armageddon, it's nice to know where The End will happen. If, however, the world doesn't end while you're visiting, you get to walk around the ruins and get a nice view of the surrounding countryside. The actual archaeology/ruins, while significant, are limited compared to some other sites (no mosaics, ancient streets & columns, etc.). It's really more about the location. Got stuck in a traffic jam nearby.... carmageddon?

This is quite the site. It has one of the most spectacular views in Israel. They have a good film that helps introduce the history. You can spend some time here if you love history and especially Bible history.

If you are visiting Israel for a short time and have many other places that you want to see and debating whether it is worth your precious time, I would say skip it. Unless, you are really into the historical period of the time and place and being at the site would give you greater fulfillment of your knowlege. If the site in on the route where you are heading, it MAY BE worth stopping by for an hr but not more (but the trade off is that you will be rushing to your next and possibly more engading destination). Do not be tempted to prioritize Megiddo because of its UNESCO status or the rating on the list of things to do in the vivinity of Nazareth. Im all for seeing as many places as you can, and I do encourage everyone to support the National Parks with your admission fee, however if time is short this is not the place for you to be.
