Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What can I say about this place? Not a lot to be honest. Came on Saturday but it was closed for the tour. So came back in the week. Only to be told tea factory that the tea dryer was broken. But you can see the packing which consisted of 3 or 4 ladies sitting next to a small machine weighing the tea bags and boxing them. It was like watching paint dry as exciting as chocolate tea pot. I can’t believe even the pictures on the wall was like a child’s scrapbook. Why not put dates under each picture?? Why not have a tea tasting part ?? No clue how to run a business?? . Then we sat and had tea . Which even put me off to buy from the shop. Please tell me why can’t the black tea can’t be loose leaf?? You guessed it a tea bag . Cakes were good . You can see why this business is suffering and I worry for its long term success

We took bus 14 up to the Tea Factory. When we arrived, we were greeted by all staff. The lady at the café was friendly and helpful and made us feel welcomed. The citronella tea and banana bread was exceptional. Overall we had a good time and I advise anyond else dropping by to sit down and have a cup of tea.

We were riding the car with no destinations, just to see the surroundings and we found out the factory. We were in no factory before so for us it was nice. It’s and old factory, not much to see but we enjoyed the tea here (vanilla ice tea) and the chicken & chips. The view is really nice.

The view was lovely. And the old photos of Princess Anne's visit were interesting. But, it was not even operating as a tea factory anymore. It's a tea bag packing factory, but it was nothing special to see. The old machines which were no longer operating were interesting.

Couldn’t order a cup of tea. Not open for inspection. Four people sitting around doing nothing. Rude receptionist. Don’t bother.

Just a few minutes drive from the Mission Lodge. Unfortunately the tea factory is closed till the end of May. We hung around the area though which was worth it due to the pretty views and serenity of surrounding nature.

Take bus no. 14 from either Victoria or Port Launay and get off at the tea factory. Don't waste your time there - nothing to see and little to purchase.
Instead, walk up the mainroad for 200 meters and then take the footpath to the Morne Blanc. This is a great rainforest experience with no dangers!
Tip: When back from Morne Blanc and still in walking mood, just walk along the mainroad towards Victoria. You will pass nice tea gardens and the road winds through the rain forest. There is little traffic, so walking is a real pleasure. Every two hours bus no. 14 comes along and you can hop on anywhere.

This place is a bit tricky to find if you're driving yourself around coming from the west side of Mahe. We actually went first on a Sunday (don't bother, it's closed), and then went back on Monday so got to feel like we knew where we were going.

The tea factory itself is interesting and of course smells very nice. The views from atop the hill where the factory sits are amazing, the tour guides are very nice and informative and, as everyone else has pointed out, you can go buy their tea when you're done touring the 'factory'. It is good tea, for sure, and a good way to spend an afternoon.

Compared to the tea factories in Sri Lanka, this one is very small, but all the components of the process are the same aside fro the greatly diminished production volumes. The tea itself is very nice also, though they make a lot of flavored tea, which is not really my thing.

Directions tip from West coast:
Go North from Grand Anse and turn right just before the 'Presidents Village'. If you get to the Eden Holiday Villas (white wall on right around a fairly frightening blind corner), you passed the turn. If you keep going, the road goes into a marsh and gets a little sketchy (the road itself, not the people, but the locals will look at you very clearly indicating you have no idea where you are). Turn around at the beach after the Eden Villas (which is a pretty nice place to get your feet wet, btw).

Once you've taken the right turn off the main road, you will go up and up and up, through some pretty nice, old forest and finally you will get to the Tea Factory. If you are paying attention at all and keep going on this road, you cannot miss the place. That said, if you get to the very obviously cultivated hillsides full of tea bushes, you have missed the place.

If you keep going up and over the mountain, you will go straight into the heart of Victoria.

To visit the tea factory is a nice trip for an afternoon. Approx. 30 Min. drive from Victoria you have also a nice view from the top. The place shows you the different steps in tea production and there is always somebody who gets you around. You pay a rather small entrance fee. You can buy all sorts of good tasting tea.

We went took few photos with the kids and the tea pot on the top, had a quick drink and left. The scenery was nice but no special activity over there. Only a relaxing point.
