Really enjoyed our tour - guide was very knowledgeable. House shows it's age but is undergoing slow restorations and can't wait to come back and see them. We didn't know they offered "Alexander Hamilton" tours until we got there and it was already full. Definitely call ahead and book this if you're interested. The mini museum where you buy your... The Schuyler Mansion was the home of Philip Schuyler, a major general in the Revolutionary War and a leading citizen of New York in the colonial and post colonial era. He was also the father in law of Alexander Hamilton, which makes this a must stop for American history buffs and fans of "Hamilton" the Broadway musical. The museum is... More

This is the home of Gen. Philip Schuyler, the father-in-law of Alexander Hamilton. You can see "the room where it happened", where Alexander Hamilton married Elizabeth Schuyler, the general's daughter. Great tour of a grand home of Albany, beautifully preserved. The knowledgeable docent gave us a vivid picture of life in the Albany household back in the day. Highly recommend.

This mansion was the home of Revolutionary War Major General Philip Schuyler and his family. Many personal items, hats, shoes, sword and furniture is there. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and took his time to explain everything.

My daughters are huge Hamilton (Broadway play) fans. They loved this tour of an historic home with many connections to Alexander Hamilton. The home was built pre-Revolutionary War and was wonderfully restored. Great guide explained everything well. Definitely best for Hamilton fans, but I loved it for the Rev. War connection. Great view of downtown and easy access and parking.... More

We lived in Albany for several years but today for the first time we visited one of the major tourist attractions of Albany: Schuyler mansion. Philip Schuyler was a Revolutionary War general and United States Senator. Alexander Hamilton got married in this house and live here for two years. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay stayed here. Tour took a... More

Went to the Schuyler Mansion recently and because there was no one else there - received a private tour of the house. The tour guide was very knowledgable about the family, the house, and the history of Albany. The house is in good shape for its age and everything that its been through. It is squeezed onto a tiny lot... More

Don't miss the annual open house on Jan 6th each year. Fully costumed actors portray the colonial Schuyler family with many interesting connections fom early Dutch Albany and through the American Revolutionary war period. Very well preserved piece of history by the dedicated Friends of Schuyler Mansion. The mansion also serves as a history classroom for students. Informative & fun.... More

We were open during our regular business hours throughout Labor day weekend. That sign is not on our property however. Were you able to find the site? More

With some mention in the new Broadway play "Hamilton", Philip Schuyler has had a bit of a resurgence. Since New York history is the center of US history in pre-revolutionary times, seeing how our "founding fathers" lived is fascinating. The house is being brought back to what it looked like in the late 1700's and is more than half done... More
