Well-laid out inside and out
Nov 2019
This totally modern museum is good if you're interested in early Korean history, particularly what has been learned from tombs. We had visited tombs in Gyeongju, also highly recommended. This was a good follow-up, to see an excavation site and the objects found in them. Good explanations in English. Also, great views from the outdoor area.

A beautifully presented museum with an indoor and outdoor section. The plants were very pretty in the outdoor section. The tombs and artefacts are very well explained in English as well as Korean and the museum is modern.

Extremely interesting Museum right near excavation area.

Nice local museum immediately next to excavation area. Museum was extremely well laid out and had some very nice pieces. English language was available in many areas. Once you saw the items from the tombs along with scaled versions, you could walk outside and see the actual excavation sites. Really nice local attraction. Definitely worth seeing. I would highly recommend taking a taxi to the museum as it was a fairly steep climb.

Very I interesting Museum

Went as part of a tour off a Princess Cruise. The Museum itself is very interesting. The grounds around it are wonderful. Up the hill there is an interesting castle with superb sun dials used during the ages.

The Museum for the iron making Bronze period of Korea
Mar 2016
Bokcheon is the historical museum of Busan (釜山). Busan stands for the mountain of iron making (Bu means iron or ax, San stands for mountain) and it is the heart of iron making culture: Gaya, of Korea for thousands of years and the museum is built near a major archeological site of Gaya culture. Gaya culture became part of a large state of Silla: one of the State during Three Kingdom Period and Busan was the capital of Silla. The Bokcheon museum presented many unearthed artifacts during that period and many wonderful local culture displays of that period. During the 7th century, Silla unified the Korea peninsula and became the precursor of modern Korean until war world II. There was a famous defensive city wall located on the rear high hill of the museum where the great admiral of Yi Shoo-Sin used to defeat the invading Japanese fleet with his infamous Turtle ships during the Imjin War in the 16th century (Joseon Dynasty). Military historians have placed Yi on par with Admiral Horatio Nelson of Brittan. Like Admiral Nelson death at Trafalgar, General Yi suffered his death during the battle and become the greatest historical hero of Korea nation.

History & pre-history.

The Bokcheon Museum is located next to the ancient tombs of Bokcheon-dong. Worth looking out the back at these tombs with contents of pots & skeletons. Well preserved & Under cover. Excellent pre-history. Diorama, tools & skull reconstructions. Shows you how the prehistoric lived and looked. Fabulous view over the blue roofs of Busan and Dongane township.

Worth a visit.

It was a stopover of 45 minutes on our themed tour to Beomeosa on the Busan city bus tour. The place is huge consisting of the museum building, outdoor exhibition hall and ancient tomb park. The museum building has exhibits of excavated articles and relics of the ancient kingdoms as well as life-sized tomb structure from ancient times to bronze age as well as ancient kingdoms like Shila and Gaya. Exhibition hall 2 is dedicated to relics from Bokcheon ancient tombs. Time constraints did not allow us to visit the outdoor exhibits or walk in the tomb park. Will come back if we have the chance. No admission fees. Worth a visit.

A LOT in the area
Jan 2013 • Solo
There are quite a few buildings in the area that had different purposes long ago--some have been redone on the inside to have a miniature of the area while others have been left alone. I didn't go into the main museum. I really liked the area where the digs were.

I'd really suggest going to this area for a whole day mini-hike--there is a lot of climbing up paths--which is what I'll do sometime.
