I did an overnight templestay at Beomeosa Temple (you can make a reservation on their website). It was a good mini break from the city life with no-meat food, 108 prostrations, early morning hike etc.. A lot of older people come here to go on hikes early in the morning. The temple is also very accessible to public transportation with Bus#90 and Line #1.

We took the metro to Beomeosa Metro station and exit number 5, and headed about 150m up the road Cheongnyongyejeon-ro road, to the bus stop. We took the number 90 bus (from memory about 1,400 WON each) and this takes you right to the entrance. Note - if you walk from the metro the hill is extremely steep all the way.
The temple itself is free to enter, and we arrived around 10am where we could hear and see monks doing their prayers with Buddhist people inside the temples. This was really beautiful to see and peaceful to watch. The architecture and paintings of the temples is very pretty, and you really get a feel that these temples still in use are some of the most genuine temples in South Korea.
Nearby is also Cheongryeon-Am temple (<5 min walk), and this is also free and worth a visit too if you head to Beomeosa.
Highly recommend including this in your Busan itinerary.

The travel guide book I read describes Beomeosa as an “urban temple” so I was quite shocked to discover I would have to walk 3 km up a mountain from the metro station. Luckily the bus 90 will take you there. It is way worth the climb. The temple is beautiful and well maintained, set on a magnificent and green mountain. Very peaceful, one will forget the busy city just under

The hike isn’t easy for everyone, but it’s worth it.

Park for free at the bottom near main entrance and hike up to the temple and several hermitages and pavilions.

If you don’t like lots of stairs or inclines, pay the ₩3000 to drive up near the top. Plenty of restrooms on site. Beautiful area to take in nature and the majesty of the Temple. This place is a must see!!

Well, it's been a few years since I last visited, and at that time, most of the gates were building sites. Refurbished to their original standard, the Beomosa doesn't disappoint. Perhaps the best thing is that it is easily accessible form Busan via the Metro. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the old Buddhas again and would recommend it to anyone as a half day excursion.

This temple is one of the representative temples in Busan, and it collects entrance fees when you drive into the car. It is very large, and many believers pray. It is a good place to look around slowly, and the atmosphere is good. It is a temple worth a visit in Busan.

This is a very fine Buddhist temple located in the hills around Busan. It is really nice in the fall because of the orange and red colors of the trees. It is a very peaceful place contrasting with the city of Busan. It is easy to walk around, it is very clean, and colorful.

To get there, you have to take the metro and stop at Beomeosa (line 1) and then look for the bus station which is located one block from the exit in direction to the hills. Then you take bus 90 and you are at temple in less than 10 minutes. To go back you do the same in reverse order. You can stop in one of the very nice coffee shops located close to the bus station for a cup pf coffee, tea, ice cream, and pastries.

You can spent one to two hours at the temple. Participate in their ceremonies. There are several, nice sanctuaries. It is not crowded.

There is no entrance fee.

The Fish Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in Korea. You're still in Busan, but away from the hustle and bustle of Seomyeon. Before entering the complex, admire the enchanting nature: streams, wisteria, bamboo groves and fragrant pine trees. Founded in 678 by the monk Yusang, the temple has three terraces. You pass under Iljumun's squat columns and then look up to admire Daeungjeong's ceiling, decorated with flowers symbolizing the word of Buddha falling from the sky.

Take the time to get to the temple, finally get on the bus anyway
After passing several doors, you will arrive in a beautiful, quiet place where live monks and where one can make retreats
I liked the beauty of the architecture, I liked the serenity that emerges from the place

Since my arrival in South Korea, this is one of the most beautiful temples I have visited
I find it authentic, less crowded than others and I felt great tranquility there.
In addition, a ceremony was in progress and I was able to hear these prayers recited by the faithful.
